Most on here whined and cried to get Cal out and replace him with "anyone but Cal." Now that Cal is gone, most are still whining and crying even though Scott Drew looks to be the guy. To think we were ever getting Wright, Hurley, Billy D is laughable at best. Who else besides Oats did you honestly think we would get? All of you "anyone but Cal" posters need to sit down and let it unfold without pissing and moaning. This is what you wanted...remember?

Exactly. Drew, in my mind is still a top 5-7 active college basketball coach. His last 5 years, they’ve been a 1 seed twice, a 3 seed twice, and would’ve been a 1 seed the year the postseason was cancelled. Sure he’s had some second round losses (not 1st round however). But every single great coach has early tournament losses. It happens . He gets good recruits, good transfers, and can really coach offense. Does need to shore it up on defense. But he’s a very good coach. And probably the best candidate for Kentucky. None of those other “top 5 options” want to be here. Get Drew! It’s a solid pickup

I am also (almost) an anyone but Cal guy (no Cal , no Pitino) and I'm okay if Scott Drew is the decision. He can't possibly do worse than Cal.
OP has some good points. IMO the lack of a strong VIABLE replacement is the reason Mitch didn't fire Cal and eat the buyout. But now that he is gone we have to figure this out. But he is right, lots of people that were saying "anyone but Cal" are now crying that they don't like prospects. This was always going to be a contentious situation. We needed Cal to win big and step away like Roy and K so we could have a strategic succession but that didn't happen.
I sure hope he does better than what Cal did the last 4 years! If not, this board will be even less tolerable than it is now.
I really have no doubt he can do better than Cal. It's really would be very, very difficult for anyone to do worse.
