What I was sitting on, something I was told days ago, is that the young man and his fam is seriously pondering a certain school, who will obviously have a vacancy at that position going into next season, and when I saw SHS’s post, I thought he was hinting around to that. The convo I had recently was no barbershop talk, either.

When Ruff was an 8th grader, I was told by an assistant SMS coach that the young man was smart and showed leadership reminiscent of my son at that level, which I found flattering, and Wease loved them both. I was told then, he could be a three year starter. This young man is evolving, though, he improves yearly, got to like that about him. This will be a huge loss, indeed. With him at helm, it’s Golden Lion football all over again.
Stationary QB's seldom work on the high school level, unless you have a stud line with receivers like Borders and Wright.

The QB is a load and tough to bring down. How does this offense work with a 160 Lb QB?
Great question. Our QB is big and strong, but you have to be able to throw it to open up a good running game. I've not saw that against the good teams, and I do believe Shelby is better than when we played them, so that's not a shot at you guys, he ran on ya'll, not much passing. It's tough with 8 in the box all the time, unless you have Tre Harbison, and he's long gone.

Don't know anything about your JV QB. As much as I like to rile Burns fans, I couldn't tell you one thing about players moving or reasons why.

Crest had two good QBs on the jv team. One was a freshman and the other was a sophomore. Neither was real big.

The Huitt kid left and is now playing at Nations Ford - Fort Mill. He was 6'1 165 ish and would have gotten a little bigger by next yr but wasn't a great fit IMO - but most likely would have been the starting QB next yr

Sounds like a good qb competition next summer over at SHS - If he stays that is .

Doubt it, they’re loyal to a fault over there to senior players, hence Clark starting over George a few years ago. Best case scenario, they convince the younger quarterback to play another position for a year, he certainly has the athleticism, but I doubt he and his people would be receptive to that idea, and I wouldn’t blame them. Stay tuned to that situation. It will be interesting, no doubt.

LA, Ruff is a great fit for us, he is very smart at Qb.
He can throw, not the arm strength as Bess or Shell, but on target and can read a defense.
Bess is.a great kid, but I truly belive Ruff is our future.
Yes I heard rumor he was leaving after this year , that he has been promised to start at Qb at another school.
But couple coaches I talked to belive he stay.

FWIW and just for the record that's news to me. I did hear a really stupid bogus rumor coming from a Burns fan that a particular person from Crest had actually called the parents about this kid offering a place to stay so the kid could play at Crest. I happen to know this person VERY WELL that's being falsely accused and know for a FACT that accusation is nothing more than a BLATANT LIE. The part about the dad being offered a coaching job is news to me, but it could very well be another BS RUMOR and probably is. I do not know why folks start rumors and falsely accuse anyone unless they have FACTS. I do realize what this player could mean to the Burns FB future and understand why you would be upset, but I hope you and all fans realize IF and when any student-athlete transfers to another school it's their prerogative and the PARENTS make the choice in what they think is in the best interest of the kid and family. This kid may end up at Crest and IF he does I'll be there cheering him on the same as I do for all Charger players. In the mean time, I'm not sure I'd believe everything the "Little Birdie" was told by John Brown's uncle-brother-wife-sister-nephew-step dad at the Cleveland County Fair. However, as in the past, people choose to believe what they want to believe and do not always state facts or know the truth. The reason I know MOST of this is nothing MORE than BS - is because that particular person that I know very well is me and I have absolutely NO IDEA who the parents are at this time. BTW I would encourage Burns fans to ask the kid's parents and get the facts before starting up a bunch of BS. And finally last but not least, I hope this kid does transfer to Crest as long as everything is straight up. Tell me 99% of all fans at any HS would not welcome a STUD PLAYER of his caliber. Also, tell me of any school on God's green earth that does not have fans, players or coaches wishing or encouraging high profile players from nearby schools to come and join them. Get real folks and out of denial. At the same time, I will not lose a wink of sleep if he stays, goes or chooses to move to Texas..... Good luck to the Bulldogs and GO Chargers!!!!

Ill bite....
Sounds like there isnt anything set in stone going on, but this post also sounds like "dont be surprised when it happens" If he goes, then he goes, but like DBD already said, the "next guy up" mentality gets draining and its a vicious cycle and kids/parents just bounce to the next best thing. I do have some information on it and it didnt come from Billy Bobs, uncle who sleeps with Crest12233456 wife. I wont speak on what I know because its not for public and also I dont like the distraction and attention it gives these kids like its draft day. If he plays with Burns and lives in Burns district, play for Burns. If he lives in KM,Shelby or Crust, then play there. I do know there is more to the daddy coaching etc than what is lead to believe but obviously nothing has been signed and dotted, its way to early for any of that nonsense.

I think CC as a whole has too much talent for each team to compete and dominate for kids to transfer and leave a program dry. I personally think this kid and a few of the others will be staying put at Burns, I know Devine doesnt have the rings Ware does as HC but as far as coaching football...he is as good as any in this county and can get the kids where they can go.

A lot of kids have transferred to Crest over the last 20 years. A few to Burns. Not sure about KM. SHELBY has had a bunch over the years also. Seems Burns does get the short end of the transfers.
However, with the middle school class at Burns right now, better days are ahead. By 2020 or 2021 Cleveland County football is going to be ultra competitive.

I don’t know about all of Cleveland County. I don’t know much other than people I talk too. Coaches, and parents alike. Sounds like Crest is going to hit a slump in the talent department. Which is fine, it happens. Personally, I like seasons like the season Crest had in 2010. They weren’t the most talented bunch as far as big time college recruits but that team was fun to watch.

One who can extend plays with his feet, and help an average oline.
Our line is average, what kind of curve are you grading on? But agree, someone who can extend plays would be helpful. I've heard the same rumors LA has. The kid did play receiver at Chase tonight and looked OK. He isn't big enough to play QB at the next level. So it might be in his best interest to have a QB duel next year and if he loses out play WR. Who knows maybe he could get to the next level at that position.
