I wish they would play 99 Red balloons fly by when they release the balloonsKeep the balloons
I wish they would play 99 Red balloons fly by when they release the balloons
It was a fine tradition back in the ‘good old days’ when it was no big deal to throw your cigarette out the car window, light plastic on fire, or throw a soda can on the ground when you were finished with it.
Now it is what it is. An inane tradition folks cling to because they pine for the ‘good old days’ and are tired of uppity people (like myself) telling them what to do, what is important, and what sacrifices should be made for good of the only world we have.
If you could make a biodegradable balloon that wouldn’t get caught in a duck’s throat or suffocate a fish I’d be all for it. But I think I have my priorities straight when I say the life of the fish and the duck matter more than releasing a balloon as a means to celebrate a touchdown.
/Rant over.
We can't burn plastic anymore? That's BS. How about tires?
Only at night so no one sees the black smoke. We can't burn plastic anymore? That's BS. How about tires?
helium in phones/MRI machines
The balloon release thing is kind of corny. Get rid of it.
I really don't care one way or the other. Im not huge on any tradition, as long as my team wins. If we do want to keep some sort of TD celebration for the 1st TD. I say go with red confetti. Instead of handing out a balloon as people walk in. Had out a small bag of red confetti. Seeing a cloud of red engulf the stadium would be pretty cool. We've endured a lot of changes over the years. Losing the balloons would be the easiest thing to deal with in my opinion. Or if it's that big of a deal to keep the tradition, cut it back to the first score of the season instead of the first score of the game.
Isn't that how they announce the next pope?Only at night so no one sees the black smoke.

Thought it was white smoke if he was confirmed and black if not. Or something like that.Isn't that how they announce the next pope?

It's stupid because we can be losing 30-3 and they still release balloons. Or what happens when we get shutout...the balloons are still released. So incredibly stupid tradition that doesn't actually support competence on the field, is a waste of resources, and polluted our state for years.I prefer it because it looks cool at the game and one of the first thing that caught my eye during my first Nebraska game back in 1968, but it isn’t the end of the world if it is eliminated...
I'm fine with getting rid of the balloons. While we're at it, Lil' Red can go as well!
Fill them with the universe’s most abundant element instead — hydrogen!
we’re not running out of anything - not oil, not water, not people, and least of all, helium.
but if people dont want to do this, because of how it looks... whatever.

Riley isn’t here here anymore..
You are correctThought it was white smoke if he was confirmed and black if not. Or something like that.
So you have to pop them and just leave their detritus behind...talk about taking the air out of the room.Doesn't matter. It was the mindset of morons. You don't release balloons after scoring when you are getting blown out. Ever.
How many ducks and fish have died?
I raise ducks every year. Pekin ducks. Big juicy ducks. I kill them. I eat them.
I kill them by throwing balloons in their pen.
