Our entire team takes them. Frequently.Against longer and more athletic players Oscar is probably more effective from the free throw line than he is in the post. However, there is no reason for Toppin to be shooting fadeaway 18 foot jumpers...EVER.
Someone asked that question/called his dumbass out asking did you want all those mid range jumpers? Is laughable and sad. Our coach wants us to take a shot that is literally one of the worst in basketball, and he centers his game plan around it. 10 mil a year man, for that
Exactly, I’m fine with Oscar and toppin taking some, but 30 from the whole team is crazy. Anybody still defending him, after vandy had 5 small players on the floor and Kentucky still settled for mid range jump shots instead of getting the ball to OscarSomeone asked that question/called his dumbass out asking did you want all those mid range jumpers?
Of course he did. HOF coach my ***.
How in the hell does a player or coach make a HOF while they are still at the job? Bob Huggins has had maybe 5 NBA players in his 40 or so years of coaching. He shouldn't be in either. But he is twice the coach Cal is.
Close the basketball HOF down it's a joke. Worse than baseball even.
Actually if you change those 19 3's (yes even the 3 we made) to mid-range 2's, and assume we continued to make 30% of those, we make 6.33 (rounding DOWN to 6) of those for 3 MORE points than the 3's gave us (& the win).Team doesn’t often take 19 threes. So maybe they needed another mid-range or two.
Solution is to recruit more big guards who can’t stay in front of their man but can make some jump shots.
Better shoot 18 foot jumpers than 20 foot jumpers. Have better chance of going in. Missed all 3 point jumpers last nightAgainst longer and more athletic players Oscar is probably more effective from the free throw line than he is in the post. Kansas had a very similar game Tuesday night. Shot 5/23 from 3 and pulled out the W. Kansas wins every close game they have down the stretch and while they get bailed out by the refs a lot and put on the line late that wasn’t the case Tuesday night. They just gutted out the W. We seem to lose about 50% of our close games at home. KU 5-0 at home during conference play in games decided by 5 points or less. UK 2-2.Jmo but 3-19 from 3 is what cost us this game. Not on the Cal train but nobody is going to win many games shooting that poorly. We were fortunate to be in the game
Boy, put Ron Mercer on this team and we’d really be going places
We hit 15 more free throws than vandy and also out rebounded them.If he hit our FTs we win hard to understand why that so hard, Vandy hit their FTs.

The HOF is a joke. If you can kiss the media's A$$, and have a lot of BS, which CalI is great at, you stand a good chance of getting in the HOF. I disagree with you on Huggins. I know he hasn't won a National Championship, but I look at what he does with what he has. He beat Cal when we had Wall, Bledsoe and Cousins, by changing his game-plan. I judge a coach by what he does with his recruits, not by his recruiting. UK, Kansas, UCLA, Duke and NC are schools who usually get the top recruits, so I do expect more from them. A good coach can take a really good point guard, and a good center and build a good team with other players who are not 5 Star players. We've seen that at Virginia, Villanova, Conn. and other schools in the past. A good coach doesn't try and put a round peg in a square hole. If BS was music, Cal would be a "Brass Band."Someone asked that question/called his dumbass out asking did you want all those mid range jumpers?

Is it the focal point of said teams’ offense? They taking twice as many as any other shot too?I know a lot of us are just deadset on hating on Cal and will look for any reason to bash him, but maybe check out the stats below before you go deciding mid-range jumpers are the downfall of the season:
"The top eight teams in FG% between 10-16 feet all made the playoffs last season (Suns, Nets, Pelicans, Jazz, Mavericks, Bulls, Bucks, Hawks), as did 10 of the top 11 (Nuggets, Heat).
The top six teams in FG% from 16 feet to the 3-point line made the playoffs (Nets, Bulls, 76ers, Hawks, Suns, Nuggets) and five of the top six teams in field goal attempt percentage from that distance made the playoffs (Bulls, Raptors, Nets, Hawks, Suns).
We’re seeing something of a shift in the NBA, where the mid-range jumper is making a comeback. Because that area of the floor is often neglected by opposing defenses, some teams are scheming to create those open shots.
When everybody is zigging, somebody should be zagging. Forcing teams to defend the mid-range takes them out of their normal defense. As long as you have the personnel to make those shots, it can be a viable offensive strategy."
