Thinking we need to seriously consider

Tiano against SC. Williams can't complete a downfield pass. Not sure he came within 5 yards of a receiver on a pass past 12-15 yards. Fitzgerald appeared to telegraph or stare down the receivers. I'd say play Staley but he's left the building so let's give the young guy a chance and play Tiano!

I would like to see what he can do, but I figure I know. Never the less it's clear that Williams and Fitz aren't the answer so why not give him a chance.

I would like to see Fitz again along with Tiano. Williams isn't an SEC QB.
I would also like to see A Williams at RB more.

I know we had a Thread about Staley transferring---I was very worried but the overall vibe of the posts were Don't Worry, he couldn't beat out Fitzgerald, and MSU has a wealth of QB talent. I wish we would have had his 6'6 tall 260 lbs. body to run a "Relf / QB running Offense" yesterday to grind out 1st downs and run out the clock and eek out a Win---true not impressive and we have Lots of other issues but it could've / should've been a Win.

But I am with you---at this point let's go with Tiano. And let's also use some younger & more talented RBs---seriously we have talent just sitting on the bench! Nick Gibson, Dontavian Lee, and Alec Murphy (and to a small level A-Train Williams) are sitting on the bench watching Shumpert stumble and watching Hollaway run up the Middle!

Totally agree and since Mullen keeps saying how young we are then he should get Tiano ready for the next 3-4 years. Williams is not a good QB, decent backup but that's all. No speed , no arm and no accuracy beyond 15 yards. Also needs to use Hollaway as an outside threat and out of the backfield, sit Shumpert, let Williams and 1 or 2 of the younger guys run the ball. If Mullen is so worried about his QB's making mistakes and no corners to cover wide outs then its time to play ball control and increase our time of possession. Thought the O-line did a good job yesterday for the most part, but its time to change the offense and help the defense to help the team not mullens personality.

Agree 100% fish. Mullen gave up on Fitz way too quickly yesterday.

Agree on the Ball Control emphasis on Offense.

Yesterday in the 2nd quarter i looked up at the ribbon board and saw the Time of Possession : MSU 4:50 USA 13:28. Now at that point we had the lead but we just cannot have the Defense on the Field that Long when the temperature is over 95 degrees---it was a recipe for disaster.

I actually thought our line play was "ok" yesterday. Our secondary and our QB play in the second half sucked. Even with that honestly we were in position to win.

Pretty sure Tiano will get a shot soon. Most bitching about the defense, but I'm way more concerned about the lack of offense and not being able to score this season. Scoring only 20 a game want win many games, giving up only 21 points a game I could live with.

South Alabama made adjustments on defense the second half as they crowded the box knowing Williams couldn't throw the ball down field accurately, he ran ok but is iffy with his accuracy as it showed in the second half.

We should have had a better game plan on offense with the idea to run the ball, we didn't as we tried to establish a passing game, big mistake against South Alabama.

No doubt that Williams is not an SEC QB.

Do you remember how much better we played against Ole Miss when Dak replaced
Williams. It was as if somebody turned on the car.

Fitzgerald is much better suited to a Relf style offense than Staley would ever be. Mullen just didn't do it yesterday. Averaged 7 yards per rush & still threw the ball almost half the time.

I don't think we know nearly enough about Fitz to have this discussion. He had two series. I'm not sure he'll be the guy, but he needs some snaps to settle in and see what he can do. I hope he gets the start Saturday.

Agree. Two series and crappy vanilla play calling. At least one drop (Mullen said two). Had he gotten the benefit of a Fred Ross speed sweep and some zone read option plays to get going maybe things would be different. Standing flat footed in the pocket every play isn't going to be his game. He needs another chance.

I wish we would just go with Fitz and Aeris as the primary guys at those spots and see what happens. There is literally no downside. We are screwed anyway if Dam.Williams and Holloway are the best we have.
