unbelievable these people put their hand on the bible swore an oath and pledged allegiance to the flag

seattle residents should be embarassed at this theatrical performance by children of vladimir lenin

end of the democratic party

the more moderate democrats realize the party has been hijacked by communist- they will vote trump.

more like this will come to light by election day.

i remember when the conservatives took over the republican party.

wasnt as extreme to the right as we are seeing the power shift on the left to the far side.

way far side. we are now openly discussing the possibility of moving to a social democratic country

thereby eliminating 2 major things

1- the most powerful military in the world- bar none. which means people worse than american white people will be alot more likely to attack us.

dont take national defense serious, could end up a slave.

2-might as well forget going to mars. not going to have the imagination or desire to evolve anymore. social justice will dissolve all structure into chaos.

Prime example why people need to pay attention to local politics. The Federal Government should not have to step in and solve issues like this. I do not like seeing the Fed do much of anything that the local and state governments should be handling. People need to pay attention and vote accordingly. Vote for the politician that most fits your views. Party and race are really of no concern if you pay close attention.

According to the liberals on this board, there is no slippery slope and this is just the fringe, haha. There is no moderate Dem politicians anymore. They are all controlled by the radicals in the party, and all those so called moderates they ran in swing districts in 2018 have done nothing but vote in lockstep with the nut jobs that now control that **** show they call a party.

You will see a mass exodus of big business head towards the southeast.

Good for us, not good for the northwest or Seattle. Seattle is about to literally turn into the place Snake Blitzken had to escape

hey i take offense to that

afro towne is way too good to be run by these morons.

afro towne needs real leadership

kanye west maybe

i cant wait to see the first afro towne

maybe in the worst block in chicago a seed will be planted

maybe some rich superstars will start buying up all the resi and commercial property around that block using an investment group

maybe they put together a SBA program linked up to the local community banks or something

maybe they put together a team of citizens to run for local offices to take over all political offices in the area.

beats me

something needs to be done

To your point about no moderate dems right now, that’s part of the problem. There are no visible moderate republicans either. The only people making noise are the lunatics on both sides.

My hope for the country is that enough of a silent majority of moderates exist to pull us through this time of extremes.

We lock ourselves into these binary discussions which is not productive. There are plenty of people out there who think that the Bernie Sanders’/AOC views on the country are dangerous, who also think that Trump is unstable, unfit and destructive, and just want a reasonable moderate who is a decent human being. But those views don’t generate clicks. And those people are without a political “tribe” at the moment.

Here is a Headline thats a fact

"Democratic Leaders in cities across America seek support from the homeless, the drug addicts, the anarchist, and the socialist by pushing agendas to redistribute the wealth of hardworking law abiding and maybe god fearing middle class americans to this group that has merged for a common goal of bringing down capitalism".

all this started with a knee on a thiefs throat.

I’m not disagreeing with you for the most part...but anti-Trump Pubs do get a good bit of press and are far more emboldened than Dems standing up to the far left.

Romney, Fiorina, The Lincoln Project...

who are some Dems vocally and visibly standing up to the radicals?

This. There are plenty of us in the middle that are equally disgusted by the extremes of both sides.

I was offered a glimpse of hope during the Democratic primaries when the voters clearly and emphatically chose the moderate candidate over the far-left options. If all Democrats wanted was socialism and anarchy, Bernie or Warren would be the nominee.

And I am not here to sell you on Biden, so please don't try to engage with me on that. He's a terribly flawed candidate. No doubt. But the two party system has, yet again, left us with only bad options.

I would absolutely love a viable third party that represents us in the middle. Until then we are forced to listen to these wackos from the fringe, and people - unfairly - assume they represent the entirety of their party.

You mention extremes on both sides. Can you explain a little more a out who the extremes on the right are?

it is pretty clear the extreme left are the socialist Dems and it was clear during the presidential primaries.

The United States Department of Homeland Security defines right-wing extremism in the United States as "broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."

the second part of that definition sounds a lot like CHOP or CHAZ to me.

And the first part is not really extreme republicans, just extreme right wing. so it is very different than what we are seeing on the left right now.

this is simply not true. Please name an extreme position that Republicans are pushing nationally. Here is how the extreme right no longer exist, so your both sides argument is several decades old.

Abortion: 20 years ago we were talking about abortion. No the discussion is about late term abortion and whether it’s ok to kill a baby that survives an abortion.

Gay rights: 20 years ago we were talking about gay rights and gar marriage. Now it’s about trannies reading to our school kids and boys dominating women’s sports like weight lifting and track and field.

Drugs: 20 years ago the right was retarded about drugs. Now you see Trump getting criminal justice reform through with the support of Republicans. This frees a lot of criminals who were doing time for petty drug charges. Also, many Republicans are showing support for legalizing marijuana.

Social Justice: 20 years ago, Republicans were considered the book burners. Now, we have gone from having a conversation about taking down the confederate statues and flags, to mob rule canceling out Washington, Columbus, Jefferson, Grant, Lincoln, ect.

I could keep the list going with many examples, but the both sides argument simply isn’t true. Trump is the most liberal Republican POTUS in history with the exception of immigration, and look how he is treated. Even with immigration, he’s simply trying to enforce the laws we already have on the books. I’m willing to listen, but when you espouse the both sides argument, please give examples of the extreme right forcing nonsense down the people’s throats right now.

Brother, Seattle is and has been one of the most liberal progressive cities in the country for a very long time. Something like 86% of the vote went to Clinton in 2016. That’s a nearly unbelievable number.

My point being that none of this should surprise anyone. Shame because these things will drive business out of that city, and it was once (still is currently) a really cool place to visit.

I think this is a pretty fair response for the most part. I see where you are coming from and from a social policy perspective I agree that Trump is certainly not at the extreme right. It’s hard to put Trump in a box.

What puts the Republican Party in a bind is his behavior. When he does things like retweet videos of people shouting white power, mock physically disabled people, disregard basic science, engage in juvenile rhetoric on a weekly basis, it doesn’t project moderate or compassionate behavior. This is and will be part of the challenge for Republicans moving forward - inevitably he has hurt the brand for moderate republicans who can’t stand behind his character.

I was previously registered Republican. Now independent. I have certainly voted Republican more than Democrat in my life. I like Trumps fiscal policies. I don’t think he is a kind and compassionate human being. I do think Republican politicians will be in a quandary for years I’m having to disassociate from his behavior.

I don’t post a lot and really try to avoid the extremes of online debate which are a big root cause of why we are where we are today. I do understand your points made above. But I also hope we can all collectively move forward from these binary discussions one day - there are plenty of shades of gray and room for reasonable discussion.

Who put is in Nam? Who voted bi partisan for the war in the Middle East.

You're saying you don't believe in your right to bear arms. The opposite you push, therefore, is the taking of a citizens firearms. Try it, *****. Is that what you want to hear.

And abortion isn't, and shouldn't, be a means of birth control. Rape? Yes. There are thousands looking to adopt.

He doesn't "mock" physically disabled any more than you. The man is personally an *******. But he has completed, or tried to complete, all his campaign promises. The Republicans fought him tooth and nail when he was first elected. They literally worked against him. The Republican party is not the GOP of my youth. I will say this again. When MLK Jr.'s niece says great things about his policies, what the hell does that tell you?

You are correct in that Republicans did fight him early on.

hey @DFan

how much time have you spent listening to or reading from the head of cabinets?

like wilbur ross, mnuchin, or ben carson

i guess what i mean is how much time to you try to interpret the actual govt policies versus the various news outlets narratives on the policies?

like the tax cuts, the de regulations, the energy independence, has the trump admin done anything you agree with?
