Things Joe Should Try Saturday

1. Stop returning kickoffs. Let them go through the end zone or call a fair catch. That way, we at least start at the 25 yard line.

2. Feed Kylin - Do it with swing passes, slip screens, wide option tosses--anything different. Based on Mullen's offensive approach against LSU last week, I would have to try some wild dawg looks, too. Maybe even set it up for Kylin to toss an easy pass from a direct snap at just the right time. It would be the perfect way to take some of the load off Shrader. Be creative, Joe. Let your imagination run wild.

3. Get Austin Williams the ball more. This kid may have the best hands in the receiving corp, but he gets very few targets.

4. Get Malik Dear more involved in the game. I like him in the slot on third downs, maybe a jet sweep or reverse. And for goodness sake, turn him loose on a punt return.

5. Show some emotion. Throw your headset down. Shout at a referee, just enough to get some spittle worked up, while flailing your arms about and pointing at the jumbo tron. Fight for us, Joe. Show us you care.

He said before he wasn’t opposed to having 2 QB on field at same time. Put the Beard in the wildcat and let em do some guessing who’s getting it.

A screen.
Run Shrader.
Not getting a delay of game.
Not 17ing up on special teams.
Tackling.
Keeping them under 50.
Trying to score.

I could go on..

Watch the panthers offense and how they get the ball to CMC. Hell, watch himself at Penn State getting the ball to the RB.

Wear shorts.

That seems to rally the fan base.

I don't get the whole show emotion thing. The main thing is be who you are. Players see right thru fake emotion. Plenty of great stoic coaches in history.

Go with tempo. Spread the field and work the middle with the TEs.

Find a way to get Hill outside of the tackles. I'm not sure how you do that with the RPO.

DON'T TAKE SHOTS DOWNFIELD. Joe loves the deep threat, but LSU will eat it up.

Quick Passes. Don't give LSU time to collapse the pocket with 4 rushers.

Get Hill more involved in the passing game. That helps hold the LBs and allows receivers to find more holes in the middle.

Great suggestions. Agree 100% about the short passing game with Hill involved.

I wasn't talking so much about how he interacts with the players, but more so about how he interacts with the officials. In the ebb and flow of a close game, there are moments when a head coach just has to let the refs know he's there. Even if he doesn't get what he wants this time, make them think about it on the next call. I believe this is especially true in the SEC.

Like these guys...

Whatever we try has to be done quickly. The offensive line will barely slow down their rush. I bet they rush every play.

Once Kylin gets shutdown he has no clue on what to do. This is not Holloway up the middle. It scheme Kylin into space and give him the ball. He'll make yards. Hell, throw some of the motion stuff from the AU game in just to make the defense second guess what you're doing. I'm not seeing any innovation from a guy that was heralded as an offensive genius.

his offensive genius was based solely on the use of the rpo. It wasn't based on him being innovative, creating mismatches, misdirections, motions, shovel passes, triple options, speed sweeps. it was based purely on the option dive, or throw down field. that's about it. Basically the midline option or throw it. I'm thinking the read is typically either linebacker or other coverage personnel in secondary. There might also be a read on the end also. there seems to be a lot of reads presnap, simultaneous with the snap, and then just post snap. just a lot of configuration. i've also noticed when it is a run, we spend a lot of time hesitating in the backfield instead of taking off that we didn't do in the mullen offense. those hesitations tend to us not getting yardage on short down situations.

Play without helmets - it would beat the heck out of those white sno-cone looking pieces of crap. Besides, we don't tackle anybody anyway so what's the point about worrying about hurting your head?

Pretty sure to make the RPO work you gotta block most/some of the guys. With this line he needs misdirection, screens, etc. They will be on our qb within 2 seconds guaranteed. I mean....Tennessee was every stinking play. Its hopeless if you can't block really.
