I read somewhere earlier that he was 6'0" at the start of his senior year, so he's already grown 5 inches since then. His dad is 6'10" and his mom is 6'4" and was a WNBA draftee. I think he's going to grow some more and be *really* good in a year or two. The stars aren't everything. See my post above about Keegan Murray.

This kid will never see the floor. Allen who was a (4) star ranked in the top 75, how did that work out? Cal is a joke.

This kid is a completely different type of player than Allen. This kid would run circles around Allen and I am not bashing Allen. I hope Allen does well but trying to compare 2 players based on rankings is honestly dumb. There is more to basketball than a ranking. Kentucky fans should know that by now.

It's way too soon to say he will be better than anyone.I doubt we see him play much this season anyway.

They don’t have a choice. Most are so entrenched in their vile hatred of all things KY, they have to demonize every action taken by the coach. This includes bashing children.
he is 18 years old....hardly a "child"....the lies you tell just to try and prove your point....VolBassChildFan....has a ring to it

With only 9 scholarship players in front of him and the amount of injuries we've had the last several years he may get more run than we think. We just have a slim margin of error with so few players. Hope everyone stays healthy. We just can't seem to get enough players to want to come here anymore.

That translates to a 6 star for Duke
Whitehead went from 9 to 1 in the Rivals rankings after committing to Duke.
Lively went from 10 to 3
Flipowski went from 45 to 5
Mitchell dropped from around 17 to 20 after his commitment

Cason Wallace went from 10 to 5 after his commitment to UK and Livingston dropped from 8 to 10

Lol our fans really honest to god believe a ranking determines how good that player is smh.

The guys that have failed here and moved on weren't good ball handlers.... This kid seems to be a skilled player

I believe the big ranking entities acknowledge that what a lot of their rankings are based on is future potential, and specifically future pro potential. That makes your point about incoming skill level being important. If a team gets a top ranked recruit who has loads of athleticism, but quite a ways to go on skill development, then that would still be a great pickup if you expected to keep the player for multiple years. But if everyone knows that player is determined to be OAD (e.g., Kahlil Whitney), then was that really a great recruit for your team? Is that a better recruit than the 145th ranked player (e.g., Ochai Agbaji) who plays 3-4 years in college (maybe very sparingly for the first year or even two) and is a big part of a multitude of wins? For me, who really won in recruiting for a year can't be determined by the ranking systems number. The guy best with player projection, understanding player/family mindset, roster forecasting, etc. is the guy I would crown the best in recruiting.

As I recall, there was an article posted on this site several years ago in which someone had analyzed the rankings and the college careers of the players. As a general rule, the higher the ranking, the more accurate it tends to be. Very few of the top 10 players are major disappointments. Players ranked 10-20 will have more players who never live up to the ranking and the accuracy of the rankings continues to drop as the ranking number drops lower and lower. I say all that to say that it isn't at all surprising that a kid ranked as a 3 star would move up to being a 4.

Exactly. If we would've had Ja Morant commit out of high school, how many on here would have been excited? How many would have said this guy will never see the floor?
I'm not saying he's gonna be as good as Morant, but he's got a lot of SGA in his game. Long, sneaky athletic. Defensive minded but will get buckets when needed. He's being highly slept on.
