He needs to be aggressive shooting the ball when he gets an open look. They need to run plays for him since I don't think at this point in his development he is going to do that much off the dribble despite his length. This guy could be special down the road if he can put on some good weight.

We don't see it much, but I like his handle and confidence when the situation calls for him to dribble. The move he made to the hole with a strong finish was eye opening.

In my opinion he is also one of our best defensive players (with Nigel and Sa). That's not usual for a frosh.

RUhoops you are on the money, he has really good feet for a 6'9" frosh. he has the ability to guard smaller guards in the open floor very unusual or a big man let alone true fr

Liked that he got a little up and under post up move last night. Wouldn't mind seeing him add a little more of that to his game. At 6'9" think he can use that as an advantage, especially as he gets stronger down the road.
With his height he could also add a turn around jump shot by posting up his defender.

Yes, that's what I was getting at, some more inside type plays to take advantage of his height.

I don't worry about adding the weight, he actually is pretty well conditioned and has a decent looking shot, when given room....he is part of the opponents game plan in scouting RU, teams are aware of his shooting capability, which is enough right now.....Thiam would be a more dangerous player if we get more uptempo chances in transition.

I don't ever see him in the next year or two as a front court starter that gives you 7 rebounds a game and banging underneath.....the staff is playing the player at the positions that take advantage of what he does well, within the team concept.....A normal staff would just plug him at SF and play Nigel and Corey at the guards and hope Thiam gets shots from the corners.....that eventually maybe where he lands, but right now 20-22MPG is how you build his offensive confidence, before asking more of the player.

These are great problems to have & we are not asking too much of Thiam and he has a role on a rebuilding team...

I saw the first post move from Thiam against Stony Brook. He had a nice pump fake and under move along the baseline for a layup. Still waiting for him to attack the basket or attack and pull up for a shot jumper.

You can see it starting to come. Game 10, in my opinion, was his best game as a Scarlet Knight.
Issa is really an important part of the dynamic of this team. He is a known 3 point threat that other teams have to account for and when teams zone us , we have to do a good job finding him .Against man , he will learn to pump fake and drive around his defender and pull up for easy 15 foot jumper and eventually drive to the hoop. Watching his improvement will be awesome . BK and others say he shoots lights out in practice and after practice he shoots another few hundred. You can tell this kid is driven just by how hard he trys playing defense and moving his feet guarding smaller guards. Love his 6'9" size at guard as well, especially against taller Big 10 shooting guards.

Batie and Gettys are the only 2 we lose next year. .....

having Thiam, Omaruyi and(gotta think he will blossum) Bullock around potentially for 4 years is comforting

How the heck do you pronounce his name. The announcer at the RAC seems to put a 'C' in front of his name making it sound like "Chow"...

Thiam move to the basket last night scoring a deuce was a positive step for sure. Once he develops his game and starts attacking the basket, this will open up some space for him to knock down threes. Exciting player to watch grow over the next few years.

I couldn't ask for more from a freshman that isn't a projected lottery pick. Can shoot. He plays within himself. Plays great in the system. Can shoot. Willing defender. Passing skills. Can shoot.

You know he's got so much room for improvement though. Can't wait until he gets that mean streak going. I want to see him blow by somebody and throw one down or just take over a game and see us go from down 6 to up 5 on the kid's back, like a Coleman would do back in the day.

I wonder how much weight hell add in 4 years

Wouldn't be concerned with that. He will add some, but his dexterity is a major strength. Plenty of skinny dudes in hoops. His frame doesn't look like it will be easy to add too much good weight.

Dare I say he could be developing in the mold of an even lengthier Mikal Bridges at Villanova.

Not Thiam thin.

There is fat, and there is muscle. If you want to live longer, you add on the latter. Sure, you have genetics, but anyone can put on muscle. And a meal plan is included in a scholarship.

Building muscle doesn't equate to a longer life. Being thin does though.

Not to many centurion meatheads walking around. But really, it's genetics more than anything. And sex. At least according to my Aunt who just turned 105.

I don't need our hoops guys reaching centurion status, just give me a few good years and a few NCAA 's... lol
