I Have a feeling that a lot of this has more to do with the lack of love for girls sports at/in Bennington.

What are you talking about? To be clear, you are saying girls should not be given equal equipment, uniforms, practice time, scheduling, recognition in high school. Is that right, bigot?
I like how you went to "bigot" right out of the chute.

Go big or go home.

That's easy...none, you idiot. My point wasn't directed at your "equal treatment" comments at all. It was specifically targeted at your comment that "girls sports surpass the boys in a lot of areas ", which is why I quoted it. Again, read and try to comprehend what I write, idiot.

Reading comprehension isn’t his strong suit. Throwing childish insults is more up his alley.

Softball field and basketball uni’s are the main issue. As has been pointed out, softball upgrades are in the future plan. Baseball program, specifically the legion program, has fundraised to support their own field improvements. The girls picked the “off-brand” uni’s after their first choice came in way over budget.

The Bennington Juniors coach is solid, don't know him but he seems like an "old school" baseball coach.

I doubt the Freshman basketball team is required raise funds or have revenue to afford uniforms. So no, high school athletics doesn't work like that.

Hmm the school I coached at we raised money. If your team raised more money then you bought better stuff. It didnt matter if you were a Frosh or On Varsity they were all together in that particular sport.

My son's baseball team wanted nicer shirts than what the school had in their budget. So, they bought them but didn't buy hats to help make up the difference. The kids were responsible for buying their hats.

No lawsuit needed.

I have a girl in high school and I will tell you that girls sports always take a backseat to boys sports. Girls get leftover equipment/uniforms, are not recognized the same even when the girls team is superior to the boys team in the same sport, and, generally, are treated as second rate.
OK. I'm going to bet that your daughter either goes to a private school or you are a time traveler from the 1970's.

Arent most uniforms paid for by funds raised? If the boys raise more funds then they get to spend more money. Maybe they dont do it like that out there.
Unless you are talking about a private school or a small rural school, all uniforms are paid for out of school budgets.

I mean, they tend to take a "back seat" in terms of people/students caring about it...I get that.

But as far as equipment and unis...it is all the same.

At one time, girls sports were not great but now, I can make the argument that girls sports surpass the boys in a lot of areas. If you watched the girls state bball tournament last week, which I am sure most of you didn't, the quality of bball was great and can be much more entertaining than the boys. As for facilities, I can understand a softball facility being smaller than a baseball facility but if it is uniforms, travel, practice times, recognition, etc., the boys shouldn't be prioritized. These girls put just as much time and effort in as the boys and they deserve equal treatment.

I suggest the girls play with the same size ball as the boys and the same distance for 3 pointer if you think they surpass the boys..

And I did watch some of the girls basketball tournaments and in the Class A game the ball was stuck between the rim and back board on a shot and even the refs had to get a poll to dislodge it.. if that happens in a boys game they can jump up and dislodge it themselves..

I have never understood when people try to tell other people that girls sports/players are better than guys.

Uconns womens team would get beat by a JV HS team.

It is a stupid argument. A better argument is that for high school sports teams resources should be divvied up equally rather than skewed toward whichever team would win a hypothetical contest.

Wow, you guys are all over this. You guys are like the straw man, red herring, and whatever fallacy kings. I never said they were better but the games can be more enjoyable to watch. That's how the girls surpass the boys. Never did I say they were better. I have a daughter and two sons. My sons would kick my daughter's a$$ in sports but boys basketball can be a bore and I played for a long time. Boys baseball can be more of a bore. Never said girls were better. But they certainly deserve the same respect as boys on a high school level where it's all tax payer funded. You can go hang with TampaTard, moron lobster, john ross the uneducated, and the others who can't read. You along with these guys really are idiots. I hope none of you were educated at NU because if you were, it shows how you don't have to be very smart to go there. The girls at Bennington deserve the same respect as boys, end of story. They aren't better but they are equal as competitors and high school students. Get it?

Agreed.

Now the "why do we have to workout early" bit is lame, because that is probably the coaches choice.

But like uniforms or whatever, just cycle it so new stuff comes in consistently for all the sports.

A friend of mine years ago used to play pickup ball with/against a woman on the Olympic team. He said a good HS boys team would beat the US Olympic women.

The sport that intrigues me is mixed doubles tennis. Women seem to hang pretty well with the men.

Doubles masks the athletic differences quite a bit. You can be an out of shape bum and still cover half of a doubles court pretty easily.

Well I just heard that more parents from boys put money toward the boys program than the girls parents put toward the girls parents... Care to address this?

I doubt the Freshman basketball team is required raise funds or have revenue to afford uniforms. So no, high school athletics doesn't work like that.

Its jot necessarily the Freshman team. They dont have a Freshman program. High Schools have a Girls basketball program which all the levels are together. So when they do fundraising, the Freshman girls basketball team raise funds for the girls basketball program. Just like the Varsity girls raise money for the girls basketball program. Ive never seen a high school sports program not do some type of fundraiser to buy better uniforms or equipment. If your program doesnt raise funds then thats on your program and the coach needs to step up their game on fundraising.
