I feel like we haven’t played with 100% fire yet. We will see it for the first time against UNC. Boston College can storm the court all they want, but they caught us napping.

Good article. Defense is the only thing standing in our way of a title, just need to get it figured out.

Agreed J....Feel like we will. I really understand K's emphasis on talking and on court communication. Seems like thats part of the biggest component of handling the ball screens.

I wonder if taking it on a play by play basis, or incorporating a single strategy- like SWITCHING, is a better way to attack it?
Merry Christmas sir! OFC

To me the single strategy obviously works better faster, but I thing the ceiling is higher if you have multiple strategies. Also, using different approaches helps these guys prepare for the league. Every NBA team attacks ball screen differently depending on the team and players. I think Ks willingness to teach the whole game instead of just a system is one way he's grown the most as a coach in the last 10 years or so. It can bug us fans because we want to see the same system every year and identify with it. But I don't see any NBA teams running Dean's secondary break every trip down.

I feel like Duke tried switching against BC and got killed on it because Bagley and Carter can't be and shouldn't be guarding people 8 inches shorter who can hit the 3 and also get to the rim against them. I still feel that if Duke had better help defense at the basket then the roll off the pick and roll wouldn't be such a weakness. That might be where practice will help the most. I disagree totally where the writer says Carter should sit more in favor of Javin--Carter is a stud against whom no team in the country has an answer. Let the other team make the adjustment.
