They just don't get it:
- Mullen is the best playcaller ever: NO HE'S NOT. He's a great organizer, and great at development/S&C, and a great QB coach. I'd even say he's an average caller, i.e. he does the basic common sense stuff. But he needs a dedicated OC to help open things up for him, because he tries to do too much. He's a micro-manager and gets too emotionally conservative when he gets nervous.
- Needs to fire his staff: His staff isn't the problem, at least when it comes to X/O and gameday coaching. Grantham is a good coordinator. Billy G and Big Hevy are good position coaches. If anything, he needs to let Billy G call the plays in-game.
- Needs more recruiters: This is WHO YOU HIRED. He develops, and does his thing. He's got Top 15 talent, and he generally needs a top QB to win big. Maybe he can hire a Brewster who can get him a player here or there, but it's not going to move him into the Top 5.
The problem is, they had it wrong from the beginning. He was never going to get Top 5 talent like Spurrier wanted. That's not his strength. He rules by fear with an iron fist, it's not conducive. They need to blame Loaferz. This is what they hired, and he must not have managed expectations very well.
Mullen will win when he gets his QB, which is probably Richardson. But screw it, I'm laughing my *** off at him and I hope he gets fired and never gets that chance, because I'm petty like that and still pissed about 2018. But let's get the reality straight here, Pawwwwwl.
