about burgers!

I like A Clockwork Orange and blistering Metal riffs as much as the next respectable chap BUT I am diametrically opposed to your burger rating standards. Music, movies, burger size and toppings does not a righteous burger make. You described the "Cadillac" of Chicago burgers using zero words about how the the burger tastes. Whenever I see a burger joint offering a lot of themed burgers it is a red flag. For they will be master of none.

The Millennium Falcon of burgers in Chicago is Au Cheval. The wait is annoying but worth it. The lights are turned down low to provide some cover for when you begin feasting on two prime beef patties, grilled to medium, topped with weepy, slowly melted cheddar, bright dijonnaise, and a house made dill pickle. The soft, buttery bun is the perfect blank canvas for the intense beefy flavor... One burger done incredibly well. Order the crispy potato hash with duck heart gravy and eggs as an appetizer. Afterwards only drink kale smoothies for a week.

PS "Don & Millies for an awesome, greasy burger and a strawberry shake." AGREE, especially with that shake.

Strawberry shake? Things like that should be outlawed..
Get secure in your manhood, have a strawberry shake made the RIGHT WAY with vanilla ice cream and stawberry puree and come back to admit you lived a lie until that point.

I haven't been to Au Cheval. Sounds like I need to check it out.

Describing the atmosphere at Kumas is necessary because I saw a family in there with their kids while there were guys on screen doing...Clockwork Orange things. You need to understand that you're not walking into a Chili's and be on board for that part of the experience.

The burgers, frankly, speak for themselves.

I’ll vouch for Au Cheval. Great food in general. The burger (with bacon and an egg) stands out. One of the best I’ve ever had but is pricy.

Best hangover cure ever = Bronco's Cheeseburgers and extra greasy fries. Taste pretty good but the grease clears out all that bad brain stuff in a jiffy.

I have a moral opposition to going above a certain price point or cut of beef with a burger. If you start using steak meat for hamburgers I begin to question your core values.

I also don't love the egg-on-your-burger thing. I don't find that the flavor of a fried egg justifies creating a burger that drips yolk everywhere.

check it out

It gets stupid busy, like 6 hour wait on Saturday stupid. I would recommend going on a Sunday evening and grabbing a brew at the Lone Wolf next door, 30 min to 2 hour wait usually. Don't go to Small Cheval, not the same. The burger is $10.95 and I think well worth it.
