The defense played better today for sure, but KY bailed them out some with penalties and dropped passes.

3 for 4 on 4th down though, and 2 I remember for big gains. Tackling remains atrocious. We did well with blitzes and stunts when we ran them. LOTS of wide open receivers but were fortunate that their QB didn't see them.

The reality is they could have had an outright dominant performance if not for their own slop. But they got the job done. Now time to take the next step.

Today it went both ways. The score in no way showed which team played better. We played well in spurts, then just down right awful. Defense had some great moments, mainly in the first half when we had Gay.

The defense also dropped a ton of interceptions as well. Just a really sloppy inconsistent game all around.

Exactly. From a scheme standpoint we were pretty good. But Shoop can’t go out there and tackle folks on his own. Start wrapping up better and we’ll be in a lot better shape.

Yeah, I've thought Cole was playing pretty good this year but his missed tackle on the 4th and 10 was down right criminal. That tackle has to be made.

Curious which three games the Pack would have him play for the rest of the season. One has to be Ole Miss.

I'll vote. A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss.

I think we can beat Arkansas without him.

I don't think we can beat Auburn, LSU, Bama with or without him.

I bet he feels like going out there and making a tackle for us sometimes.

I thought that last week and this. Watching them live you think we have up 600 yards of offense. Then you see the stats and scratch your head. One thing for sure. Our defensive line has been pushed around so far this season and we tackle like we want to make sure and not get our skirts wrinkled. I've never seen such poor tackling effort. Did they bring back that hawk tackling from a few years ago?

It was bad at times on TV too. It was also better in some respects Uk was forced to throw when they got down 21-3 and they dropped a good number of balls. That said, we blew some coverages.

We are struggling with tackling. E Thompson is really good but gets himself out of position at times. That is why Willie Gay is so important. Leo Lewis doesn’t have the instinct or motor of either.

Gonna be some ups and downs. I don’t expect to beat auburn, LSU A&M or Bama, but we should win the rest.

Our struggles on defense makes the egg bowl loom LARGE.

Yeah listening on the radio it sounded like they were gashing us for 15-20 a pop with the occasional easy 40 yard gainer. I get home and check the stats and was shocked at the number I saw.

Y'all can say what you want about this ugly defense but the bottom line is they allowed 13 points. Florida gave up 21 to Kentucky even with all their straining. And yes our tackling is pretty weak but as long as we keep them out of the end zone it's all good

It's definitely a bend but not break defense. Of course when we play AL and LSU the D will be shattered.

I can't believe how many people are whining about the "dropped" interceptions. There used to be a common cliche: "That's why they play defense and not offense. Sure, it would have been great to catch a couple of those, but if a DB gets a hand on the ball he has made a great play.

The tackling efforts were Sirmon level, but I think the line played pretty well.

We will get blown out by Bama and LSU, but Auburn and A&M are not any good. They are both a little better than State, but we've got a chance in those games.

Defense looked good on some plays and horrible on others. Kentucky's offense looked good on some plays and horrible on others. Neither appeared to depend to be mutually exclusive.
Neither team played with any consistency, which made us both look pretty average. I'm just glad we came out on top.

We miss a first rounder at safety? No ****?

Yes, no ****. It's not the player as much as we don't have someone who will lay the wood on people.

We need to find a crazymu17er to bring in next season, preferably two.

People are obsessed with this first round ****. We had players like that who never sniffed the NFL.

I did see No. 10 make a tackle yesterday. Most of the time he gets pushed out of the way or arrives to look after the play is over.

We don't stand a chance against LSU or Bama. Before the KSU game I thought we would beat A&M or Auburn but now I'm thinking maybe A&M, maybe. I'm already looking forward to next year tho.
