Skyy Clark fell from 8 to 15 in the latest recruit rankings update. What is the reason for such a drop?

I coach a high level AAU team here in Ohio and it’s crazy how much these kids change from year to year, physically and skills wise. No wonder the scouts have such a hard time trying to sort this stuff out..
Meh...we're in good shape with Nick Smith and decent shape with Jaden Bradley and Cason Wallace. If one of our primary recruiters was still Joel Justus I would be concerned. However, with the new staff and Cal having a new fire under his butt, I'm not worried. They'll probably have at least one of the two in Wheeler and/or TyTy returning and probably get a transfer.

He got criticized for letting himself get out of shape in the offseason and he partially tore his knee so he’s out for the summer.
He also committed so early that it will hurt him in recruiting, if you’re already committed and your rank is malleable, they’ll rank you as low as they can, it’s just more exciting to have uncommitted guys at the top.
Like how TyTy surged to the top 10 while almost everyone else in his class had committed he chilled until a couple months ago.

I would bet the same posters were posting three months ago that, Cal should stop trying to get the most elite. We need three and four year players.
I do think sometimes the committed/uncommitted factors into these guys rankings. But the Clark thing I think people were calling for a while, regardless of his commitment.
I don't think Jaden Bradley is a high priority at this time. He's had a mediocre AAU season to this point as well. Cason Wallace is one we're going to see if UK ramps up recruitment now Clark's injured, but we know they've reached out to Arterio Morris who Jeff Goodman saw this weekend and blasted rankings for having him so low. Morris is one that if Jai Lucas was on the staff prior to last yr, UK would've been on immediately in the past but he's got enough connections he has at least gotten them on his list which was cut to 3 prior to UK reaching out. Texas is going to be tough to overcome for Morris and Keyonte George though as they've invested a lot in both of their recruitments. Those 2 will be teammates this upcoming year in HS too.
So many of the '22 guys rankings were based on last time the recruiting guys saw them in person and with Covid wiping out a year, a lot can and will change as poster above mentioned. The Pangos Event had several guys get called out for ducking competition and it will likely show in the next ranking period prior to start of '22 HS year .
I know he's not popular amongst the fanbase, but I have always been a fan of Goodman. His Candid Conversation podcast on the Field of 68 channel on YouTube is really good.
Who cares, he's already committed, so the rags and sites need controversy to get more advertising. It's just a game, plays out the same almost every year.
This is on par for Cal’s recruiting. Nothing much has changed. Fringe OAD tweener who will be raw and largely unproductive to meet our needs. Leave after a year and far too soon. Rinse repeat.
If this was 2005, Cal would be getting all of the type flight recruits. It’s 2021, and the best can get drafted anywhere because of the NBA’s “potential” factor. That leaves Cal as the best option for the fringe OAD recruits, who wont really contribute to UK until the end of their sophomore / junior years.
I think we should get out of this cycle, but Cal will never give it up unless it blows up so badly he forced.

9-16, the blow up was real.
A lot of it has to due with the fact that he basically opted out of his HS season around Christmas. He was playing really well this spring, until his knee injury.
You literally sound like a true hater saying that a kid that dropped from #8 in the COUNTRY to #15 in the COUNTRY sucks. If he was ranked #100 he would still be a pretty darn good player

Uhhhh, no, that’s not what was said at all. What was said and repeated over and over and over again, was you either get the elite, top shelf kids, or you get veterans.
Y'all just twist and twist and twist, it never stops.
Now, as far as Skyy goes, it looks like Cal is going to have at least 1, but most likely 2 top 5 kids that are legit top shelf players, so it's okay to grab another 2nd tier kid or two, then either retain some dudes off the 21/22 team, or get some good transfers… or both.
This isn’t hard to understand, I don't know why you guys struggle with simple common sense.
When guys like @ralphdaltonfan and @john19 talk and say stuff about these players maybe people should listen to them on here. They know what the hell is going on because they are in the know!
In the know more than the coaches huh? I have read a bunch from both and some things they hit but they miss ALOT too
Or just grab players that fit the teams needs and stop worrying about who is “top tier” or not or top 5 or whatever because if I’m not mistaken Davion Mintz was the best player on last years team and he sure wasn’t top tier by your standards but he was what we needed and had the “top tier” guys fit the system we would not have been 9-16.
Make no mistake about it the 9-16 had more to do with Covid protocols than the actual coaching and talent. Imagine having to coach a team that you couldn’t get on the floor for practice or workouts or kids who couldn’t hang out and build chemistry due to distancing measures that were in place. The pieces didn’t fit for that team because they could never build any chemistry, now some of it was bad pieces put together that didn’t fit the system but they would have faired a lot better had they been able to actually be around each other. It wasn’t just UK it was the Dukes and North Carolina’s that struggled too the teams that excelled are the teams that ignored the Covid protocols or didn’t have to have any measures in place like the state of Texas so some teams could build that chemistry, Cal did the right thing and followed protocol and had a down year. This season will be much different because the coaches and players will build chemistry. Go BBN!!!

It’s been quite sad to watch over the last few months the opinion of a few posters get regurgitated over and over about how Skyy isn’t that good and even that he has a chance to re-open his recruitment. There was even talk that the staff would push him out. I guess only time will tell if they are “In the know” with these complete opinions.
You are 100 percent correct and to think the staff would push a kid of his talent out is crazy. So I’m guessing team USA, MaxPreps, ESPN, 247, Rivals, the UK staff and just about every other high major college program, OTE, NBL and G League are all wrong about the kid and these two guys are right if you listen to their minions. Come on people wake up these guys don’t know much of anything and our fan base deserves better representation than them

Pretty obvious. He is rehabbing after major knee surgery. These days, most players get over this surgery. But some players who played AAU ball over the summer are pushing for ratings hikes, so dropping down an inactive player with a major knee injury is a predictable move for the internet culture.
Sometimes you just suck and the pieces don’t fit. No excuses. Nobody was saying covid was going to cause a ****** year when people were calling Clarke and Boston Top 5 picks. We sucked. Everyone dealt with the same thing last year. Some better than others.
I won’t argue with you on that at all because you are right and I actually explained that on someone else post that it was a badly put together team but I do think had they been able to build chemistry the record would have been better than 9-16 but you are right it was definitely a bad team so I will give you this
