It’s the second half, and we’ve got a lineup of Paul, Caleb, Miller, Mag, and Reiber. MSU cuts to 50-47.

On our next possession, Paul gets in the lane and does his Kevin McHale thing and gets fouled while hitting the turnaround layup. He makes the foul shot.

On MSU’s possession, our D is suffocating, and Caleb gets the steal near half court, does a pirouette and gets the ball to Miller on the break. Miller misses a driving layup but Caleb is there for the offensive rebound and put back.

On MSU’s possession, somebody breaks free in the lane for what seems like an easy dunk, but we disrupt it enough and he misses the dunk.

The crowd is roaring as we make our way up the floor. Dave Sims says if Rutgers hits a three, this place is gonna explode. Paul finds Caleb in the lane, but his path is blocked, but he spins and finds Reiber in the corner, and Dean feathers a gorgeous shot and splashes the three.

The RAC erupts again and Izzo calls timeout, Rutgers now up 58-47 with about 13:00 left. We never relinquished the double digit lead after that.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL sequence of basketball, showing off both defense and offense, and the RAC got the payoff with that gorgeous Reiber three.

I turned to my friend right before that sequence and I said , man there aren’t any scorers in this group. Then we went on that tear and I think when Geo, Harper & O came back in we were up 15. Brilliant effort from 2nd group, led by Mulcahy.
Did you steal my moniker?😂

It was Jalen Miller's pressure defense on the MSU PG that helped start that run. It directly led to McConnell's steal because it forced the PG to throw a bad pass. McConnell got the steal.

Everyone tries to kill him for his offense.....he is a freaking freshmen...it will come.

Miller will be one of my favorite players....an absolute ball hawk.

If we continue to play like this, the gauntlet will be every team being very concerned about facing RU.
The most enjoyable 40 minutes all year. Paul, Cliff and Dean have been coming on strong the last few games. And it was nice seeing Caleb have a pretty good game. Let’s duplicate the effort Wednesday and take down another top 25Team.

Today was better than beating Purdue?

I don't know you guys. The Tension, the back and forth... all of that is what makes sports great. Why wouldn't you want suspense and excitement? Today was suspenseful until there was about 5 minutes left.

I want my team to win, but I want to be entertained too.

Mind boggling post. This game was insanely entertaining. The most entertaining part of this game is how we DOMINATED the best team in our league in recent years. All 40 minutes. We probably played our best game of the year.

Add to that the chess match of strategy. How Pike subbed. How about how the Jalen, Paul, Caleb, Mag, Reiber lineup did midway in the second half! And knowing that MSU is so talented (they are) that they could make a run anytime (which we didn’t allow).

I personally did not feel calm until 2:30 left and from then on it was applauding one of the most complete 40 minutes of Scarlet Knights basketball I have seen.

We’re you at the game?

Absolutely! During the game, @silentwillie and I and my friend who I brought to the game (big hoops fan, but hadn't been to a game this year) all said, ok, let's hope this lineup, which came in at 14:48 with us up 50-45, after a Geo turnover, can at least keep us in the lead until we get to the under 12 minute TO, so that maybe the starters can then mostly go the rest of the way.

And after the next MSU basket to cut it to 50-47 with 13:57 left, we all got a bit nervous, but then we had the best 10-0 run in a long time, with essentially next year's team (sans Cliff) on the floor against the #13 team in the country upping the lead to 60-47 and then we got the under 12 minute TO with 11:53 left. Sweet.

i said the same thing. But Mulcahy was masterful orchestrating the offense with that group — And Reiber was clutch.

I know +/- is flawed, but I bet again big +/- for Miller and Mag
I love watching Miller's pressure defense. He is intense and NEVER stops working. His defensive stance is textbook good.

For the many posters trying to kill him.as a.mid major / not a B1G player.....that's crazy. His offense will come. I am sure he is working on his shot to improve.

Before Miller leaves here, he will be Jacob Young 2.0. He has the motor. Just give him time.

His offense will come or it won’t. I embrace what he brings to this team right now and it has translated in helping us get wins.

he has changed momentum of games.

Just saw the Jalen Miller injury. He twists it but does not go down immediately. He continues to go get the steal. After getting ball then he goes down. That's a junk yard dawg, a warrior.

Most guys would have gone down as soon as they twisted an ankle.
Fox-hole teammate. Gotta root for guys like that.

Agree this was awesome from all points. My son and I were jumping up and down! Reiber is really fun to watch. Really responding first to the need for good backup defense to spell Cliff. While that has been going on look who is starting to develop a deadly inside and outside game!! Can it truly be deadly? Time will tell but not bad for a soph who couldn’t develop much in a Covid freshman year.

Are you saying you love watching his pressure defense? It’s not clear.
