an average of 30 people a day are killed by impaired drivers....let's ban alcohol before thinking about firearms..BTW if I legally purchased an A-15 and paid $800 for it, the Government would never get it unless I was paid purchase price at point of sale..tax free because I've already paid it.Live Free or Die...Semper Fi.The Second Amendment is outdated - we no longer rely on "well regulated militia" for defense, that's why we spent $600 billion a year. The rest of that crap about defending ourselves from the gummint is just that, crap ... although I might arm myself against the nut jobs if Trump gets elected. But the amendment isn't going anywhere in our lifetimes, and we'll never pass anything like Australia's assault weapons ban.

We did have an assault weapons ban...from 1994 to 2004.The Second Amendment is outdated - we no longer rely on "well regulated militia" for defense, that's why we spent $600 billion a year. But, you'd support a guy who wants to ban a group of people from coming to America because of their religion???? Continue clinging and clutching to your guns.....and stick that head in the sand.....an average of 30 people a day are killed by impaired drivers....let's ban alcohol before thinking about firearms..BTW if I legally purchased an A-15 and paid $800 for it, the Government would never get it unless I was paid purchase price at point of sale..tax free because I've already paid it.Live Free or Die...Semper Fi.

One family likes target shooting openly in the back yard.....you forgot to mention that.....Hypothetic - you have two families that wanna move into your hood. One family is nice, quiet, doesn't cause a fuss, and generally fits in--the other family gets their rocks off by hanging, burning, or beheading their fellow neighbors--which family do you want to move next to you?

.....and surely you are not implying ALL Muslims want to do that????
OK, what "well regulated militia" do you belong to?Outdated..... The ignorance never ceases to amaze me. [eyeroll]
If someone is coming from Syria - how do you pick out the ones that want to live in peace and the ones that want to behead you? What's the vetting process?
And when the gates are opened to hundreds of thousands, what assurance do we have of that waiting period going forward? What assurances do we have currently that that is happening?https://www.uscis.gov/refugeescreening
And by the way, refugees have to wait in a third country until the screening process is completed, which can take 18 months or more.

Huh? That's what I said. And they aren't allowed into the country until that screening process is completed. And they can be rejected for any on a long list of reasons.Be real, the 18 months waiting period is the screening process.
We're not "opening the gates," but rather Obama has proposed increasing the number of refugees we take in -- and whether we take 100,000 or 100, the screening process is the same. And when the gates are opened to hundreds of thousands, what assurance do we have of that waiting period going forward? And if it is 300G, can they be effectively processed? I only know what I have read and I am not sure larger numbers than what we have now could be handled effectively. Maybe you are more familiar with the process than I.Huh? That's what I said. And they aren't allowed into the country until that screening process is completed. It's clear that you're well versed on the refugee screening process, well done.My point was that they aren't doing much else than making people wait. This screening process is merely John calling up Julio and asking if such and such is all right.
From what I have read, they do not have enough paper trail to be able to make a reasonably correct evaluation. A personal reference may be the best available, but how do you assess the credentials of whom is making the reference. I have been guilty of giving pretty high marks to those I would like removed from my employ. My point was that they aren't doing much else than making people wait.
