The SEC network must be hurting

The programming outside of live sports and highlight shows (when they have them) leave a lot to be desired.

Maybe this is my age showing but I don't understand why anyone would watch anything BUT live sports and highlight shows on the SEC Network.

I hope to God I'm younger than you and I feel the same way.

I watch live events on the various sports channels, and sometimes SportsCenter on ESPN if I think I missed something, but even that's rare as you can more readily find what you want on the net these days.

Who in the H spends time watching all the shows on these 24 hour networks... sports, news or otherwise.

People watch things other than live sports?? Surely 95% of their audience is only live sports action. The other 5 is airports and barbershops... or do some of you listen to see what those guys are saying about things??

I have a hard time believing many people watch them. They seem like good guys, just very unentertaining.

Isn't that the skinny guy who looks like a sick rooster and overdoes his southern accent? Even during live games I change the channel when I see him on a commercial.

He's pretty hokey but I generally enjoy Party Marty. And he seems like a decent dude.

Marty is what ESPN thinks affluent Southerners look like

Correct analysis here.

Also, both are generally pretty good guys. They've been around the NASCAR circuit for a very long time. McGee has had experience with ESPN all over the place.

Marty & Magee are coming back?

One of the worst sports shows I've ever seen. Truly cringe worthy. Almost like the producers write the script 30min before the show.

I like McGee as a radio guy or contributor on a show, but not the face of a TV show. I'm not sure what I think of Marty. He can interview people well, but he tries to make himself part of the story too much. It's most evident by what he decides to wear.

These are C level talents who have an A level job.

He's on JOX every week. He's seems really folksy. The aw shucks bit gets in my nerves sometimes. Takes him FOREVER to tell a story.

I didn't realize they had gone anywhere.
I feel like they were on last month during the baseball tournament? I've definitely not watched SEC Network since then.

I have the SEC network... I thought regularly but

I didn't realize they had gone anywhere.

I didn't even know who Marty and Mcgee were, much less, know they had a program on the SEC Network.

I just realized that I watched games and that's about it.

I do checkout SEC media days some but not really.

When Finebaum is the best they’ve got, what you expect? The channel sucks minus games, and the announcers on those suck many times.

I love watching McElroy & Marcus on their weekly show. They're hilarious together and have a good time. McElroy is a good analyst and Marcus just makes me laugh. But I agree, Marty & McGree is cringe-worthy.

There is a ton of good material from the SEC in all major sports to have a great network of shows.

But first, you need a great group of producers and great minds at the top trying to develop programming outside the live events.

SEC Storied is good but they need to develop something daily other than Paawwwllll.

Really, I’d be ok with games, re-runs of games, and post/pre game shows. And that’s it.

Yes. Add in some SEC Storied shows and this is the best thing to do. Play reruns of old games unless there is a live event or gameday pre/post game show. Three hours of Finebaum a day is torture and I can't imagine anyone watching that. My father is old and lives in Alabama and he hates Finebaum but will not listen to me when I tell him to download some apps for Mississippi sports radio shows so he just keeps watching and listening to that garbage.. He is hardheaded that way. Anyway, if SEC Network MUST do a talk show every day, rotate the biggest ESPN Bo Bounds type show from each SEC state a couple of times a week on air or something. Anything but Finebaum.

Yes, interview former SEC greats who are still living. Flashbacks to historic/great games, and come up with a game show where schools fans (or students) compete against one another (that would be entertaining alone). Maybe a spartan/american ninja/gladiator type challenge between students of each school. Anything but..........PAAAAAWWWWWWLLLLL.

They are just going through the motions right now. The way ESPN is doing right now, there may not be an SEC network soon.
