SellSeems like he already broadcasted his excuse earlier when he knew Duren wasn't coming. I'm just really getting sick of the car salesman that can't sale the cars anymore!

Cal tends to go 8-9 guys and it’s hard to see Allen getting much PT at the 2 and 3 spots with Mintz, Grady, and Fredrick there. Their experience alone will be make it hard to keep them off the floor. I also think Washington is going to play off the ball at times.Allen will no doubt be in the rotation.
I wouldn't be surprised if Brooks is the 21/22 version of 18/19 PJ Washington. This is year #3 for him and he certainly has the athletesism to pull it off. If he does, our frontcourt is going to be in great shape.Good post.
If Cal does what he says he wants to do, then we play 4 out. We need 4 guys with perimeter skills (can handle, pass, and shoot) and one inside presence.
Tshiebwe should give us around 25 minutes a game at the 5.
That leaves around 15 a game for Collins and Ware to fight over.
Plus you’ve got Toppin or if you want an experienced guy who can rebound and play with energy, you can go with Brooks.
We don’t know for sure what Hopkins brings to the table just yet. He might be able to fill in at the 5.
Lots of options at the 5 behind Tshiebwe. Hopefully, he stays healthy and we only need a few minutes a game from the other guys.
If Tshiebwe goes down with an injury, we are in trouble.
I sure hope he stays healthy, because if not we will have to listen to, “should have signed Kofi” the rest of the season.
Kofi runs the court better than most bigs. Still need someone to rebound the 60-65% misses on threes.Lobs, dunks and Kofi in the middle = Cal's normal outdated offense. If some of us are correct, our offense will be 3 or 4 guards and lots of outside shooting.
Kofi is not a good fit for that.
I understand the concern of not having a can’t miss elite talent, but at the same time there are four or five guys on this team who I know can play like all conference players (Wheeler, Fredrick, Grady, Brooks, Tshiebwe) and at least two others with strong potential to have that kind of performance this year (Washington, Toppin). And that leaves unmentioned a sixth year point guard who can shoot 38% from three (Mintz), another 40% three point shooter (Allen), and the maybe the best pro prospect on the roster (Collins).I like our roster more than last year.
I still have questions about who is going to be “the guy”, the All-American dude. The prevailing thought seems to be Washington and I hope it is. But it’s also another unknown as a freshman and we just aren’t sure. Perform like a freshman All-American and we could really go places. Struggle to adjust to the college game, we probably are a good but not a contending team this year. Jmho
I get it, but how is he going to play Tshweibe, Collins, Toppin, Ware, Brooks, Hopkins AND Cockburn when the thought is that he is moving to a 4-out-one-in style offense? It’s already going to be extremely difficult to find pt for all the front court guys.Kofi runs the court better than most bigs. Still need someone to rebound the 60-65% misses on threes.
He does not look like a 5. But it's par for the course that we have players in roles that don't fit them.Exactly. Collins is a 5-star and is a backup. People are crying about not having enough inside, yet we are looking at a 5-star backup at the 5. We also have a 4-star 3rd string backup in Ware.
If that is our weak spot on paper, I feel pretty good about this team.
Yet you're here.Seems like he already broadcasted his excuse earlier when he knew Duren wasn't coming. I'm just really getting sick of the car salesman that can't sale the cars anymore!
I understand your concerns, and agree for the most part. However I think you are underestimating the role Bryce Hopkins could play on this team. He’s not a 5 by any means, but he can be a Chuck Hayes or Julius Peppers type player for us. Big body but still quick on his feet. Gives us some fouls, can rebound and score. The lineup would look different with Oscar in foul trouble, but it could work.
6’9, 210 lbs. That’s pretty typical for a college 5. Anywhere from 6’8-6’11 and 210-240 lbs.He does not look like a 5. But it's par for the course that we have players in roles that don't fit them.
