I have a good friend who is a D1 referee and had a chance recently to chat with him. I told him I had seen him on TV refereeing some games in the tournament. He said that the NCAA had scheduled the rooferee along with him and a third ref to do at least one game in KY for little brother back in the late winter.

The rooferee apparently was going to do the game until his attorney stepped in and told him not to set foot in KY til the lawsuit is settled. Of course with his appeal that could go on for awhile.

Just thought it was interesting.

Tim Donaughy quoted (what defined a great referee was one who stayed out of the spotlight) the ones who just call the game. Donaughy went down in flames and so should Higgins. Heck, they had a 30 for 30 on Higgins glorifying him as one of the top officials in college.
You can’t tell me he wasn’t paid a couple grand to make the calls he did against us.

Many UK fans think ALL Officials are corrupt (they're not).

But Higgins has eliminated the possibility that all Officials are Honest.

Did you tell the guy there is a grand in it for anyone who slips an industrial strength horse laxative into the Rooferee's pre-game Gator Ade?

The idea that he was scheduled to do UK and was willing to do it is scary. That means he could very well pop up again on the road to a championship.:grimace::grimace::grimace:

The idea he's allowed to referee at all is scary. They could show any random game tape involving him to a psychiatrist and get a diagnosis that he's a preening, narcissistic, manic-depressive suffering from unwarranted feelings of adequacy. That should bar him from ever being on a college court.

I hope in my lifetime, it’s finally revealed that the corruption we see in sports “officiating” in general, was a direct influence by organized (Vegas) sports gambling. It’s not a bias towards coaches/ universities, or even by the NCAA. It’s dollars won or lost, and the house hates to lose!
“They” can’t just let a bunch of college kids (and Pros) run around aimlessly, potentially effecting their financial livelihood, now can they! Enter, the “officials”! Lol

I would be okay with UK, and Cal, just walking off the court of any game he is assigned to us, and taking a forfeit.
I’d be okay with us walking off the court in any obviously biased game. We wouldn’t make the tournament but what a statement it would make against the NCAA, letting these crooks screw us over and over.

I would say money trumps all and that’s the answer to a lot, but it just seems like Higgins has some personal vendetta against Cal.

After watching what Higgins has done and watching refs bring Dook back from the dead during the tournament last season on blatant no-calls, I have no confidence in ever getting a fair whistle. It's killing my interest in the sport overall.

It did say for a little brother game I could care less just as long as UK is not involved. Stupid to say stay out of Kentucky just his lawyer just protecting his case. Hope it all gets thrown out again. This should seal him from ever working a U.K. game again!!

I agree, Higgins is a special kind of something. Definitely a vendetta, like you mentioned. Which probably makes it that much more enjoyable, in addition to being profitable. If he never “Refs” a UK game again, it will be too soon!

I don't know if Higgins got paid to cheat UK. Or if he has a jealous hatred of Calipari and or UK. Either way he should never ever officiate another game. Not just a UK game, but any game.

I honestly think I understand the Rooferee -- and it makes me loathe and disrespect him more.

Here's what I think: Ever since I was a kid I've had a deep, and irrational hatred of Notre Dame football. I can't totally explain it, but everything - the rah rah BS, the gushing of the announcers, the 'Luck o' The Irish' the Leprechauns - made me root for them to lose with all my heart. If I happened to be a college football official I know that every holding call, every borderline pass interference would go against them -- so I'd be honor-bound not to referee their games.

I have no doubt Higgins has the same kind of deep hatred for Calipari and maybe Kentucky before Calipari. After all, he grew up out where people are Kansas fans and we know what kind of grinding inferiority complex they have toward Kentucky -- he'd have grown up watching them lose constantly to UK. But he is such an immoral turd and a phony that he allowed himself to ref UK games, knowing he wasn't capable of being fair.

Yes & it would be a significant conflict of interest for him to call a UK game. He wasn’t impartial before rooferee-gate & not a chance he’d be fair afterward. I don’t see how he can ever call a UK game again.

Thus, the reaction of UK fans, even though it was over the top, was good for us in the long run.

4 of the 5 losses officiated by him ended UK's season...
Can you name the 4? I haven’t really followed all this closely. I’m betting one of them was the Wisconsin loss.

And what’s with the lawsuit. I know UK fans attacked him on I’m guessing social media, and a few threatened his business right? So who did he sue?
