Taking a look at the remaining schedule it appears daunting but I believe The Mountaineers could run the table.

oUs Cowboys
KS Jayhawks
UT Longhorns
OU Sooners
ISU Cyclones
Baylor Bears

A 6-0 run would be ideal but 5-1 would be fine, 4-2 would be disappointing given how well WVU is playing right now.

However it plays out its been a fun and exciting season thus far.

Why not 12-0? After all, WVU is the only Big 12 teams that knows how to play defense. That baffles the hell out of them when they play WVU.

In 3 Big 12 games, WVU has given a combined total of 43 points. When they don’t play WVU, they score that many in ONE game.

OSU is going to be scary because it could very likely be them vs. CMU or them vs. Texas. We won't know who we'll get. We have to keep playing smart. If UT cans Strong, they may or may not step up and start playing out of this world for the interim coach. KU and ISU should help us get 5 conference wins minimum. If we get by OSU, which is in every way a tall order, I think we could get to 9-0 conceivably after Austin. I've thought we've had a team capable of beating OU the past two seasons and we've not gotten any closer each year (1 - 2012, 9 - 2013, 11 - 2014, 20 - 2015). A 9-0 team would have a rocking MPS for that squad, though.

I am not getting ahead of myself but it is conceivable, but I'm never going to say it's likely, and certainly not guaranteed. OSU is every bit as capable of blowing us out or us blowing them out.

There's one common thread. All the Big 12 offenses look great when they are NOT playing WVU.

WVU's defense baffles and disheartens the Big 12 teams. They are so no used to it.

The 3-3-5 is the wave of the future! If Tony Gibson is coaching it.

Texas AD said that Strong wouldn't be fired during the season.

If they don't lose one or two games, I'll be amazed. Probably Oklahoma and/or Baylor, but ISU or OK State could pull the upset. 10-2 would be disappointing now, but not unreasonable.

After watching OU last night, that game is winnable. 4-2 the rest of the way will be disappointing? How? Most on here picked a 5-7 to 7-5 type record.

I don't want to fa-ade awaay ....
But I digress ....

The team I am most worried about is Texas ... they have the talent and by the time we meet they vcould be real desperate and fired up to beat a highly ranked team.

Let's look at the record.

oUs Cowboys
Oklahoma State is #37 in total offense but is 4th in the Big 12 standings.
Advantage: WVU.

KS Jayhawks
Advantage: WVU, of course.

UT Longhorns
Texas is #40 in total offense but is 7th in the Big 12 standings.
Advantage: WVU.

OU Sooners
Oklahoma ranks #5 nationally in total offense but is 5-2 for the season.
Advantage: WVU.

ISU Cyclones
Advantage: Obviously, WVU.

Baylor Bears
Baylor is #45 in total offense but is one of two unbeaten Big 12 teams.
Baylor is #4 nationally in defense yardage. Bears are #2 in Big 12 games in points yielded on defense (24.3 per game).
Advantage: Tossup. The winner wins the Big 12 and, if unbeaten, plays in the Football Final Four.

Sure, any of those teams COULD beat WVU. But the Mountaineers have become the top dog in the Big 12 with Baylor. Oklahoma has the reputation. But 2 teams have shown that the Sooners can be beaten. No team has shown that WVU and Baylor can be beaten. The Bears had an easier schedule so far, but Baylor and WVU have the same schedule in the Big 12.

Dec. 3 may yet be the Big 12 "title game" without having to twist the conference into pretzels to have one.

Why? Because that will mean The Mountaineers would be 6-3 in conference and that's not a big improvement from last years 5-4 conference record.

I predicted 7-9 conference wins and finishing in top 3 in the conference. This team is capable of achieving that and if they cannot then that's on Holgrosen and might result in his termination as HC of The Mountaineers. IMO

Record of 10-2 would be disappointing? I wish and hope for this or more, also, but I cannot conceive of being disappointed with a winning % nearly 90. Many of the teams we have left to play have great football history and are highly regarded by those who have followed College football for years or decades. With that said I counter with the belief that we CAN run the table. Competition will be stiff, but there are no teams within the conference THIS YEAR who are being feared because of their strength. WVU is as close to being the cream of the conference as any, but several have stumbled while still being very good programs and 2017 teams.

After being 6-0 and playing well, damn right.
