not a criticism of what the banter is on their site, we would do much the same for a tough loss

the major discussion centers on

1) the clock did not start correctly when Harper got the ball for the last shot, already discussed here

2) Harper walked when he had that late shot in the lane when he spun around for the short shot
(upon watching it myself it appears his left foot remained in place as he spun, but he did pivot around )
.
3) the walking call on their guard that got trapped in the corner should have been a foul on RU,
or at the least, a jump ball for the brief moment that one of our guys had his hands on the ball
also

4) RU was allowed to mug Jaden late in the game, denying him the ball, without foul calls

5) "the BS" charge call on their center

in that thread of complaints I did point out that the tv announcers discussed how RU seemed to be getting
phantom foul calls called against them, this happening when Purdue got to their 10 point lead with 8 minutes or so to go

Since I’ve watched every clip from every angle about 400 times I can unequivocally say that all of those calls or non calls were correct. Regarding the clock thing someone said that’s controlled by the refs so no home cooking even if it were a little slow. If it’s like the clock travesty of Rutgers women vs Tennessee 15 years ago then you can complain but no way was the clock an issue here. Their big guy literally went to the basket like he was Jumbo Elliott. And he took out Cliff and Mulcahy and got to go to the line while Cliff went to the trainer’s room. Ivey got two phantom calls down the stretch while out of control with Paul and Caleb getting whistled for their fourth fouls.

I thought RU got the whistle in a big way after Cliff went out.
Examples?

Greenie is a contrarian… thinks he’s showing his hoops smarts seeing something only he sees. Reffing is hard, anyone that doesn’t think so should try it. That being said emotion and a boisterous crowd can make a 50-50 call a 60-40 call, but labeling that “ getting the whistle in a big way“ is none-sense.

I know everyone on here knows this, but, this is how rivalries are created. Organically. Not contrived. I suppose Purdue fans loathe RU right now.

And Ivey was running with the ball the entire game. Basketball is a lot easier when you
can run with the ball rather than dribble

What a bunch of cry babies.
Well
It was a tough game for either to lose, and very costly for them.

when a game is won or lost at the very end it is natural for a fan base to go over any details they felt did not go their way that might have been unfair
A missed call, an unfair call will always be
suggested

Harper pivoted and did not travel. My wife asked about that and I replayed and showed her in game. #5 wasn't a charge. It was a hook call.

Whatever. I reffed for 4 years. My seat is 5 rows from the court. I felt we got away with a lot.

Things I remember
Harper over back
Phantom call on williams
Ivey trap possible foul in nag

Agree with you about the Harper pivot

Just thought our fans would be interested
In what their fans thought after a tough loss

I will mention here again that the announcers thought we a number of bad calls against us, this discussed when we were down 10
Possibly we got late calls, and even up for the game

Purdue had so many travels and offensive fouls that weren't called. They need to stfu, they lost to an unranked team while being ranked #1. It's on them, not the refs. I'm saying that as if I'm an outside observer; as an RU fan we outplayed them all game long and never gave up. So proud of the team, coaches included.

They’re on all boards—the guys who complain about the refs almost every game. Here, they even imagine into existence that some of the refs are purposely out to get RU. They think that way all the time, and there’s no stopping them.

They were number 1, we played with no Geo Baker, a critical stretch with no Omoruyi, had Luke Nathan and Dean Reiber guarding a 7 foot 4 guy, and they still lost, again (and again and again), so they can stuff it

C’mon Greene. You can’t believe that.

The Ivey trap was either a walk on Ivey (which was called) or a charge on Ivey when he ran over Mag. They called the walk first.

Greene, that was great defense on our part at a critical time in the game, 20 seconds left and we were down by one. Give credit where credit is due.

You're 2 rows from the court closer than me but I've also watched those plays "a few times" on replay as well.

Over the back you could've called on anyone all night. What specific Harper over the back were you referring to?

Phantom call on Williams. Are your talking about the charge with less than 2 minutes to go? He basically put his shoulder into not one but two defenders to clear space. Brandon Gaugin thought it was a travel (I didn't). Robbie Hummel said it didn't matter whether they called the foul or not because it would've been 3 seconds anyway so either way it would've been a turnover.

Ivey trap. Everyone in the building saw him tuck the ball and start running with it like he was Rocky Bleier to split the two defenders who boxed him in. Eventually you have to actually attempt to dribble the ball. He was out of control just begging for a favorable whistle because he gotten two already in the second half against Caleb (blatantly not a foul) and Mulcahy. The ref was right there. Had a perfect view.

There was also a play in the second half when Edey gave Cliff a forearm to the gut to shove him back and score. My seat although in 200’s is just about even with baseline and it was clear as day

He might have been out of control...doesnt mean Ivey wasnt fouled though.
