Nance played awful and we blew a lead but few even expected us to hang with IU on the road with an extremely inexperienced team and 2 starters out.

Positives:
1. We played IU very tough and the game went down to the wire

2. We didn't give up after being 10 pts down in what was looking like a blow-out in the first half.

3. Kopp is looking more and more like a legit 3 pt weapon that can be a key piece. He's a big strong kid with a quick, high release. He is a good defender and has the size to rebound so he's not 1 dimensional. But still plenty of room to improve, most of all the ability to shoot off the dribble.

4. Beran had some good minutes and could be Kopp with more athleticism and length next year.

5. Young continues to show poise and nice footwork. He is not gonna be a superstar but he hung with a very tough front court.

6. Jones showed some real athleticism including a couple of great block shots and tough defense. He is raw, but his size, strength and athleticism is promising. He is improving game to game. If he works hard and figures it out, he has a high ceiling.

7. A couple weeks ago many of us thought Spencer couldn't really play PG in the big ten and he had been figured out. But he had his best game of the season and his swagger will hopefully rub off on the young guys. I would love for the guys to clear out and let him play the post whenever a small guard is on him--he can back him down and find the open man if he gets doubled. Wouldn't be pretty and he may turn it over a bunch, but his physicality would be fun to watch.

8. Turner played well. He's a mystery--long, tall, athletic kid with a nice handle and shot about 40% from the 3 at BC, but really hasn't put it together here. Had a nice game.

9. Nance played his worst game of the year, Buie and Gaines were out and we still played tough against IU on the road.

Good perspective.

I continue to be impressed with the improvement of Young. He is now showing good post moves and even dunked last night. Solid at Center for the next 3 seasons.

It was the first game Jones looked like a guy who could be a regular rotation guy. And it wasnt exactly against a crappy front line.

Also, I think it was pretty obvious Spencer learned a bit from the Minnesota game. He got himself caught in fewer bad situations.

With more help on the way in Jones and Nichols or getting a couple on the floor with one being a more traditional PF.

Here's my frustrations with Collins in this game:

In the first half, Jones was +11, Turner was +5 and Greer was +6. IU scored 1 point in the 10 defensive possessions with both Jones and Greer on the floor.

In the 2nd half, Greer doesn't see the court until 1 second left, while Jones finished +11 for the game but in only 14 minutes, while Young is -18 in 28 minutes. Both Jones and Greer had earned the right to play more in the 2nd half.

For the game, the 'Cats gave up 7 points in 21 possessions with Jones at C, 56 points in 43 possessions with Young at C, and 3 points in 5 possessions with both playing together.

Meanwhile Spencer plays the entire 2nd half and falters down the stretch, while Greer sits on the bench. Just poor player management there.

Frustrating that we should have won this game but didn't put ourselves in the best position to do so.

This is a good list, but I think I need to see a little more of the season from IU first. It may just be that they end up one of the worst teams on our BIG schedule. I wasn't terribly impressed with them. I also watched them sneak by UConn a few weeks ago and UConn is not a very good team (again.... uggh). So, some of our positives may be a result of a down opponent.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with a post arguing to have Greer play more, but last night... he needed to play in the 2nd half to give Spencer a rest.

I think they made a big mistake by not giving Spencer little two or three minute breathers. If they were worried about the speed of the Indiana guards versus Greer, just bring him in for a couple minutes. Spencer was really gassed.

uhhh there are numerous threads complaint about the team and coach. This threads topic was looking at the many positives.
