I got an up close view of the Smith kid from Desoto last night. He is really good. 89-92 most of the night and hit 94 a couple times. Stays down in the zone and has the ability to throw to both sides of the plate. Could be a good one for us

Yes, nice kid with a calmness beyond his age! He has lost 15# this season which he doesn't need to but will gain all and more back. Dude is a strike thrower.

Btw, he is my grandson.

He had a pretty big blister on middle finger before the game, I saw him after game and loked at it, actully it was raw, pretty impressive. Good thing about him is he only started pitching about 3 years ago, use to catch.

Yes, but my mother's family is originally from Tremont as well so he covers all my bases. heh

I don't get back there very often so I didn't hear anything about this guy until a few weeks ago. We've won a state football championship and been in the playoffs ofter, so I hear those stories every year. I don't think the baseball team has been to state as often as the girls softball team who has won a few state titles.

BTW, our colors are maroon and white so he will be at home in the uniforms if he doesn't sign with the pros.

French kid plays 2nd base, been hurt most of year with pulled hamstring, dude can hit and run. Thinking right now is trying him at CF, I talked to his parents last night and ask if he ever played outfield, no was the answer.

Oh, Jordan at third was smooth and this kid is committed to Msu, he will be a high draft choice before he is done in HS.

Lastly, the SS from St Martin impressed me last night, great glove and has a good swing with the bat to me!

Johnson in a bit of a jam in the 1st. Already walked one and given up 2 hits. Down 1-0. He is missing low. Fast ball is at 92 on the scoreboard

Johnson settled down pretty well. It's 2-2 in the btm of the 5th. Stringer hasn't got much off of him since the 1st.

Smithville won 4-2. Johnson struggled a bit at times with control but didn't really give up much after the first, and that wasn't all on him. He was consistently 92-93 on the fast ball all game on the scoreboard. That's 2-3 under what he has been hitting on the scouts guns. It was my first time to see him play He is raw but there is a TON of potential there. He will throw the ball harder and better I think down the road. It will be interesting to see where he is drafted.

Those two 1st inning hits turned out to be the only ones he gave up, and one of those was dead duck that fell in a gap. He struck out 8.
