Since college football players are essentially professionals now, why doesn’t the NFL draft players out of Highschool and then assign them to a college team to develop their skills. The NFL teams can then subsidize the college and universities to better train their future players.

Why would the NFL do this? They already have a massive “minor league” that they don’t have to pay a cent for and the players who aspire to play pro football do not have any other pro options

It looks to me like the ncaa has all the leverage in this situation.

Because the way it works now.... works? But yeah, I'm sure NFL teams are dying to subsidize college and universities.

How well would drafting kids out of HS go? How much faith and money would you place on HS kids who may not develop or play close to expectations? Too much risk.

Yea his take is ridiculous... It's already proven star rankings in HS don't mean **** at the NFL level Several 4/5 stars don't amount to anything and several unranked, FCS, 2/3 stars turn in to All Pros.. Dumb thread

Put the pressure on the NFL to recruit.
College coaches to my knowledge are not paid by the nfl to recruit
I want to see Nebraska win games as much as any , but I don’t care if the play in the nfl
College coaches should be paid by the nfl , not the universities

RE: The NCAA having leverage.
If this is a serious comment it could not be more wrong. The NCAA has been losing power, prestige and authority for about the last 4-5 years. They are getting killed in the courts and Congress laughed at them when they asked for an anti-trust exemption. Two years ago, President Emmert was warning that allowing NIL payments would be an "existential" threat to the NCAA; after getting no help in DC and being unable to pass internal rules, the NCAA announced earlier this year that it would not enforce Bylaw 12, which is 40 pages of legislation defining what pay is allowed and when. They knew they were about to get a court challenge (and lose), so they took the extraordinary step of announcing they were not going to enforce these rules. Same with the transfer portal. the NCAA was the last entity that wanted it -- the portal gives power to the players, which the schools and power brokers do not want to see. But again, these rules were about to get challenged in court and the NCAA would lose. Just look at the amazing, almost unheard of 9-0 US Supreme Court affirmance in the Alston case (unlimited educational payments) and the comments of some the judges that they would have granted the players even more rights had those questions been before the court.
The NCAA cannot stop this runaway train. They're not even trying anymore

Baseball and basketball are one thing, where a young guy can come in and out talent someone. A physical game like football is s whole nother topic. Can you imagine an 18 year old WR going across the middle and meeting Lavonte David? 💀

That might be true with linemen and linebackers but I believe the rest could come out of Highschool
With the exception of the trenches , football has become and is becoming more soft .
Players are protected more than soccer, baseball, and basketball
