Scheffler finally stumbled a bit to make things a little bit interesting. But he still has a pretty big cushion and nobody’s really making a charge.
Very un characteristic of him to make that mistake. I figured he would just play out of the bunker with a layup.Scheffler finally stumbled a bit to make things a little bit interesting. But he still has a pretty big cushion and nobody’s really making a charge.
Yeah that was definitely a mistake but he’s still safe. Everyone within shouting distance of the lead is struggling.Very un characteristic of him to make that mistake. I figured he would just play out of the bunker with a layup.
Chris Gotterup made some serious coin in Scottland the last two weeks. Won the Scottish open and 3rd in the Open championship.Yeah that was definitely a mistake but he’s still safe. Everyone within shouting distance of the lead is struggling.
Wyndham Clark on a bit of a heater, but he was way too far back to be a factor. Perfect weather but nobody’s taking advantage.
Now if he can show grit and a steel will he may just be a great Ryder cup contender that Keegan Bradley can't ignor. But he will have to show Keegan he has plenty of nerves to withstand the pressure of the Ryder Cup. I just hope he is not a a player that is a flash in the pan because he does seem a bit emotional but maybe that's just a momentary issue he has on occasion. Kid has great talent even though he went to OU.Chris Gotterup made some serious coin in Scottland the last two weeks. Won the Scottish open and 3rd in the Open championship.
Ryder Cup will have a different feel this year for the US. After the first 6 AQ's plus Bradley as a playing captain the next 5 picks will be interesting. I suppose you look at Thomas (not a big fan of his), Morikawa and Griffin. Cantlay gets under the Euro's skin, so I would take him, then I don't know. Harman is pretty consistent, but I think you want kind of a bomber at Bethpage, maybe Burns, Clark or Finau. He is kind of way down in the rankings but I do like Patrick Reed. Now if he can show grit and a steel will he may just be a great Ryder cup contender that Keegan Bradley can't ignor. LIVers didn't really compete to actually win the majors this year. Some were in position come Sunday only to fold. Maybe only playing three rounds on easy setups with no cuts actually has an effect. And how bad are previously competitive golfers like Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith now? Johnson obviously just wants the money and doesn't really want to compete. Smith looked like he was going to be one of, if not the best Aussie golfers of all time and now he seems very meh. Koepka also crashed and burned this year. It seems like the biggest threats from LIV going forward are DeChambeau, Hatton, and Rahm. You better love to practice if you're on LIV because the LIV tournament model does not seem to prepare these guys to win.interesting how liv faded in "the open." not surprising but interesting.
as for the ryder cup, i hope we see some new blood. at least it won't be tiger and phil. my guess:
scotty
xander
j.j.
bryson
english
henley
j.t.
collin
griffin
Does Bradley still do that thing with flipping his club around before every shot?Ryder Cup will have a different feel this year for the US. I love watching the majors but I don't really follow golf that much otherwise. It's pretty interesting to read your take on it. Seem pretty obvious that these guys will have issues competing head-to-head with guys that are grinding it out week after week.LIVers didn't really compete to actually win the majors this year. I suspect Great Britain got half of his winnings if not more.Chris Gotterup made some serious coin in Scottland the last two weeks. Won the Scottish open and 3rd in the Open championship.
when phil won both a decade back his combined income tax was 61% of his earnings.I suspect Great Britain got half of his winnings if not more.
yes.Does Bradley still do that thing with flipping his club around before every shot?
Man especially Cam smith . He was the pga player of the year in 2022. He can’t even make a cut in a major now .LIVers didn't really compete to actually win the majors this year. Ya in his Masters post interview when he faltered down the stretch Bryson DeChambeau basically said we ( LIV) don’t have this pressure week in and week out anymore.I love watching the majors but I don't really follow golf that much otherwise. I get a kick out of DeChambeau's YouTube videos.... like "can I break the course record first try?" or "can I break par with Costco clubs?"Ya in his Masters post interview when he faltered down the stretch Bryson DeChambeau basically said we ( LIV) don’t have this pressure week in and week out anymore.
