I’ve had this game circled long before CCSU as the barometer for how good/bad this season will be

notre dame is a mid lower level acc team… if we look listless against them then there’s really very little to discuss from a standpoint of potential this season

if they show some fight in a loss or manage to win I think you’ll probably see some including me who try to rationalize a 14-16 win season again that will remind you more of the play hard teams from 2016-2018

It’s either going to be that or a team more like Eddie Jordan’s last year

I’m don’t trying to predict what we will see the rest of the way. It’s going to be a few high points due to guys who give a lot of effort and a bunch of low points due to lack of talent.

Yes but only because they did play a little defense

Eddie Jordan did defeat a ranked Wisconsin team at the RAC. I think Fred Hill's best win may have been a road win against a nationally ranked Pitt Panther program. But in general I think the rankings are correct:

- Littlepage bad
- Jordan bad
- Hill bad

Dec 20 and 29 are potential wins. Beyond that. I just can’t say. When I said on this board a few weeks ago this team might not win two big ten games I was laughed at by some and told 5-7 big ten wins was a given. I just can’t see that.

That was probably me. I still don’t see that happening but i acknowledge that it’s a possibility now. Even with a better effort today. The less talented players are giving their all while the little talent we have is not able to give elite effort.

The talent thing is a cop out. Central CT doesn’t have more talent than us. Pike has honestly been outcoached. That’s been the difference outside of the Tenn game where it was a talent mismatch. I don’t understand what we’re doing on D. Until the 7th team foul of each half we should be trapping the snot out of the ball and when we do it full court we need to take more chances with a third guy waiting to intercept a shaky pass. The double team is useless with another guard standing completely unguarded to receive the bail out pass. I actually expected our offense to be worse than it’s been so far based on the talent. We’re not great, but the bigger problem is the defense. By far. Today rebounding was awful. We were so bad at tracking down long rebounds.

It’s a cop out to some extent

but the truth is we don’t know if pike is teaching the same defense He’s taught for years and these guys just don’t understand it which is on the players at some point

talent does matter when it comes to execution

if you took the 5 smartest iq people on here and we understood everything pike asked and practiced it perfectly it doesn’t mean we’d be good enough at defense or rebounding because we’re not talented enough

so is it a cop out yes in some respects but it’s also not a coincidence that our best defensive players were generally better athletes than these guys are and better overall basketball players

Fred actually had talent..inman farmer echenique chandler. Was Hamaday still here. They are all better than our current roster

You don’t win every game you should. The game isn’t played on paper. There are upsets every week. That doesn’t mean that one coach is better than another. It means one team was better that day. Rutgers hasn’t played well. That’s on Pike. But the team is also severely lacking talent.
