We just got them in the Harrisburg area. I know there's some hype. Justified?

When Popeyes came in, I tried it.. Seemed like more breading than chicken and greeasy.

Ah the gold old days when if I'd help my grandmother with some yard work or other physical labor, I'd get my two favorites. Fried chicken and lemon meringue pie.

I’ve tried the one in State College twice, and I don’t understand the appeal. The chicken is very bland and the regular sauce is just your standard mayo & ketchup mix and the honey mustard is cloyingly sweet and does not taste of honey or mustard. On the plus side, their unsweetened iced tea is delicious. I have been in several time just to get the tea.

I’ve had it at the Pittsburgh location a few times. I thought it was alright. Not greasy, decent portions. The Cane’s sauce is Chick-Fil-A adjacent

Any of you guys hunt with Springers? My new pup at 12 weeks. I have had a Springer every day of my life since 1968. Only time I didn't was when I was in the Army. This one is special. Maybe because he is the last. (I am 70).
Smart as a whip. Raised on a farm that raises Bernese and Springers. Picked him out of a gang of 7. Never had a collar or been in a house. 2 accidents in 2 weeks. Follows my 12 year male old around. I love Springers.

my brother has, quite extensively... I've used Labs and a Boykin. All for grouse and some Chinese chickens for gifts . Excellent hunters and one had an amazing super nose!

I have a chocolate lab who loves to hunt despite me never formally training him how to do so. (My wife was adamant he was going to just be a family dog) When he was a puppy he’d flush robins from our yard purely on instinct. Now he loses his mind when he sees me grab my .22. Just a week or so ago he caught a young groundhog by himself in the field behind our house. He was so proud of himself. My wife was not lmao.

My cat caught a chipmunk and when i wasnt impressed she started eating it nose first. I was impressed when she ate all but the tail. Guess that was her way of telling me she wanted to go fishing.

Had a Springer for 11 years. No hunting but a super active dog. Ours was liver and white.

I always thought the pheasants in Western Pa. were imported from Japan. I was kinda right.
Google says: Today’s wild ring-necked pheasants in North America are actually a hybrid of several Asian varieties. Breeders crossbred the Chinese pheasant with the Japanese green pheasant, as well as the Mongolian and English varieties, to create the hardy game bird we have today.

Just had to put my choc. Lab,"Ammo", down two weeks ago. Great dog,we didn't hunt because of my disabilities. He had hunting instincts also.

Sorry to hear that. I dread the day we have to put Griffey down. I’ve been trying to convince my wife to stud him out since he turned one (he turns four tomorrow) that way we can still have some piece of him when he passes some day

You are not far off. Although a private airport would not have dedicated ATC to give clearance to land.

The numbers to identify the direction the airplane is heading when landing (North is 36, South is 18, East is 9, West is 27) . There is a set of numbers on each end of the airport. So, in your example it would be 28 and 10.

On a day with calm winds the direction of traffic is not obvious, so a plane may be landing from the west and another from the east. Hopefully they are both communicating with each other (this is not required) so if one says "I'm landing on 28" the other plane can change their plans to land on 10.

Also, the numbers are helpful to navigate. One may not be using that runway, but if you are flying over it and see 10-28 you most likely know where you are.

These also identify the strip as a runway, so if you need to land unexpectedly and you see some asphalt with numbers nearby, that is usually better than the alternative.

Following up on this, last week I woke up to my wife shrieking. She’s deathly afraid of birds and bats and any other flying critters so I assumed a bat or a bird had gotten into the house. I threw my glasses on and started to head downstairs when I heard her say something about Griffey so I went back upstairs and grabbed my .22. She was in full on hysterics so I walked outside and put the groundhog out of its misery.

Apparently, he acted like he had to go to the bathroom, bolted out the door, chased the gopher down, ragdolled it, and then gleefully went to show my wife his handy work.

I air fry my tomatoes at 475. Skins pull off easy and fluid cooks out. I’ll leave a few crispy skin to give it a Smokey taste. The recipe I like calls for red pepper flakes along with seasoning to give it a mild bite .

This reminded my of this Chicken Cacciatore recipe, which I've made a ton of times now--it's delicious if you don't burn the garlic (I usually serve with egg noodles or rice instead of the cauliflower):


The youtuber is probably an acquired taste--he's a State College High School alumn though, and has done very well for himself on the 'tube.

Okay, a non-hunting dog related post for this thread: I just received antique plates for my truck and it was… an experience. I had hemmed and hawed about applying for antique tags for years and finally decided to after talking to a family friend who owns a garage in my wife’s hometown. I applied for a duplicate title for my truck in June, it showed up a 2-3 weeks later. I got the rest of my paperwork together and mailed it out. The paperwork needed was extensive all things considered. I had to send two state forms, a check, the title, proof of insurance and photos of the front, both sides, rear and VIN. (The partridge in a pear tree was shipped separately.) I mailed it out July 3rd, the check cleared the 10th so I thought I was in the clear and started playing the waiting game. The paperwork gets bounced back to me on the 24th. Apparently I sent the wrong amount, didn’t include a photo of the VIN, and the picture of the front of my truck was at an angle so it wasn’t acceptable. My truck was in the shop to get some odds and ends done so I texted my mechanic for new photos while I got the other stuff together. I just missed my mailman on August 1st so the resubmission went out the 3rd. Nothing for weeks. I finally called the DMV. The lady was as bewildered as I was about why they hadn’t cashed the check yet. She assured me she’d get ahold of that department and have them call me. Two days later I get the call the registration and plate have been mailed out. It showed up in my mailbox today.

TL;DR: if you plan on applying for antique, collectors or vintage registration/plates, make sure your paperwork is in line with everything they want, or use a notary if you’re really not sure. It’ll save you a headache.
