With Big O announcing he is returning to UK, this tells us what we all have been wanting to know. Timing is everything, especially with Cal and UK. With this news, Sharpe will announce he is heading off to the NBA, likely on Friday. Oscar's news will conveniently take some of the heat off of Sharpe's impending decision while fans are joyed that Oscar is returning.

This is one of the oldest and most effective tricks in the book, look over there while this is happening over here. This was all so predictable, as many of us knew how this would go down.

In ending, Sharpe will be headed to the NBA and shortly after his announcement, Antonio Reeves will be joining the Wildcats next season. Reeves is one of the better consolation prizes we could have gotten for Sharpe leaving in my opinion.

So we have OT back, that's bigger than big. Even if Sharpe bolts, if we can get Reeves then next season is shaping up to be a good one. Need Toppin back too IMO. Toppin, OT, Fredrick and the 2 frosh is a pretty good start to next year's roster
Edit...forgot Wheeler as well. Need Toppin and Wheeler both back IMO

I am super pumped and thankful Oscar is coming back, but Toppin's return bears a ton of weight on our success next season. More than most are giving it credit for.

Another poster who looks at the negative on a very positive day for UK fans. Gotta love it. I'll bet you are one of those who complains about why the 10th guy on the team didn't play after we win a big game in OT.
I have been very positive on our situation from the jump, while also giving Cal the benefit of the doubt. I am far from the negative poster that screams farrrrr Cal on every thread.

But yes, some of us could see the writing on the wall and have said on this very board that the timing would be as such. Oscar announces he is coming back right before Sharpe announces he is leaving. Predictable!

Yep -

and the people excited about O - it’s great! But.. we knew he was coming back .. and someone has to help him LOL

We had a better team (as of now) last year … and got bounced in the first round

When did we know? According to quite a few posters here there was no chance, NIL fell through, he has nothing to gain by returning, yadda yadda.

Agree, and most importantly our PG spot. When Sharpe announces, hopefully the dominoes start to fall.

Now we need to grab our PG that can stir this ship for a deep run. I do not feel confident at all about Wheeler returning and manning the spot. I also believe that Wallace's best bet would be the off-ball guard, as it will help his transition to the college game much easier.

I would like to know how the rest of BBN feels? Are you comfortable with Wheeler guiding us again, Wallace being the guy, Dillingham reclassifying or another high school recruit, or dipping in the transfer portal? I think the portal might be our best bet, as there are still a few available that could get the job done. PG is probably the most important position in college.

My man, we are all Kentucky fans. All of us dive deeper into college basketball than any sane person should. All OP is doing is giving a general outlook at the next steps. I think you can appreciate Oscar coming back all the while taking a gander at the next possibilities. We all do it.

I don't think you're giving Livingston and Wallace enough credit. They are both better than any freshman last year except maybe SS. So having those 2 with Oscar, Wheeler, Toppin and Fredrick is IMO better than last year. I'm sure we are gonna get a player or 2 from the portal as well. I gurantee by the time this plays out we have a better roster next year than we did this year. Have faith homey

Eff that

And I don't even care what else happens. I'm stoked we get to have one of the most likable players in Kentucky history return..
Don't get my post confused, I am thrilled Oscar is coming back too. There was just so much hate on this board and everyone wanting Cal to leave immediately, that I even posted a poll on here to see what it would take for all the negatives to give Cal another chance.

The poll overwhelmingly suggested that most fans on here did not want Cal back no matter what, even if Oscar and Sharpe returned. Now it seems that these guys have jumped back on now that only Big O is returning.

Funny how time heals all wounds.

I think Wallace needs to play the 2 spot.

Wheeler is not the guy that will lead us to a championship. We need to fill a major void at the PG position. My other concern is Calipari forcing minutes to Wheeler when he doesn't need them/when he is playing bad. He has a terrible track record of allowing certain players to play when they shouldn't.

PG: _______________ (transfer) / Wheeler (backup, unless he leaves)
SG: Wallace/Frederick/___________ (would be nice to have another transfer here)
SF: Livingston/_____________ (transfer)
PF: Toppin (hopefully)/Ware/Collins/_______________ (transfer, especially if Ware leaves, which wouldn't bother me)
C: Oscar/Ware/Collins

I think that's jumping the gun. We are excited that Oscar is back, but we still don't want Cal. It's possible to feel both ways.

That's how I see the rest of our roster breaking down and probably our best bet. Hopefully we can strike gold again via the portal with a point guard that lead us.

I really like Tyrese Hunter, the transfer from Iowa St. A kid that isn't afraid of the moment and can also score the ball. Defenses definitely couldn't sag on defense like they did with Wheeler.

We should reach out for the Pack kid unless Dillingham has told Cal he is coming.

All our guards were hurt. If healthy you and I both know that's a team that goes fairly far.

Can the LOD wait until something bad happens before getting bent out of shape? You may be right, but you didn't 'know' how this would all play out.
YES! You are NOT allowed to be upset about Sharpe until the Cal Brigade says so! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! Look, over there! Squirrel! Sez the propagandists trying to protect Cal from any bad news whatsoever.

I understand but just had a problem with the the post just as Oscar announced. Felt like it would be good to just enjoy some good news for a change and for awhile rather than put a twist on it. That's all.

Don't be like those jackholes who are constantly advocating for this place to become an echo chamber of Rah Rah Rah Cal 24/7. If you silence a group of people because they don't agree with you, this place will become a ghost town. Don't fall for that temptation.

Out team (as of now) is already better than last years. Adding some key portal guys will make it even better.
