Watched a presser from Wed/Thurs? in Ireland of Whipple and he made a comment about he will make errors, especially a mistake of verbiage. Sounds like they are trying to have him coordinate Scott's offense. Will they be able to mesh Whipple and Scott into a new offensive philosophy? If so, could be inventive. But when Egos are involved, I highly doubt it.

From what I've heard, it sounds mostly like it will stay Frosts previous offense, but managed in the vein of Whipple's style. They just need to score more and have a QB that connect on the most basic of passes (anyone else miss the screen game as much as I do??).

And we have that QB finally. And if Whipple is calling the offense, which I believe for now going into game one, then I'm certain it'll be better. I could see what he means though as for terminology. Trying to execute your approach with different words for very similar things will be tricky at first. But I think we've got the horses and the concept of protecting the ball more than they've previously done heading into season.

I think the offense will be a bit clunky at first, but warm up as the game goes into it starts firing off kill shots.

Seems like Frost offense is quarterback centered, where Whipples is a more balanced offense focused on the talent on hand. I don’t see how with Frost involved in play calling how this could gel in one season, hopefully it works.

New OC. New QB. And unfortunately we'll have to be in B1G form in game one. It'll be interesting. I'm feeling optimistic.
GO 🌽🏈!

I understand your point about verbiage but wouldn’t it have been more difficult changing verbiage for the whole offense?

SF is the head coach so I can understand having his own verbiage the majority of the offense has been acquainted with..

I’m more interested on how the run/ pass ratio is during the game..

These guys met the minimum academic requirements for admission to the university. Learning playbook terminology isn't trigonometry. If you've come all the way through Fall camp practices and are still confused about the play call, lay off the weed for a couple days.

Whip said when he first got here that he was going to learn vocabulary from the existing offense to make it easier on the players... I don't see the need to make more of that statement than this.

So is it going to be a combination of Whipple’s passing game and Frost’s run game.? Both seem hard headed and stubborn so it could cause issues over playcalling when things get rough

One of the telling points this year will be the ability/inability of NU to score in the Red Zone.
At a minimum, our PK has to be able to knock down those < 40 yarders for 3 points.
