Is a helluva home field advantage.... I know it's been brought up before but DAMN....tonight it felt like what I think an NBA playoff game would feel like. I don't watch the NBA but I've watched ESPN highlights and have seen how loud and intense it can get. The atmosphere tonight at the New Dude was insane.

And they had lights on in all 12 lofts! tonight. Don't 17in tell me the Athletic Dept. doesn't read SPS!!!

I'd love to hear from that Stanford fan that said the home field advantage wouldn't help much lol

It was impressive how the crowd ran off that first pitcher. Tight spot; Marroon-White and he folded.

And last night I think the tight right field wall of the New Dude gave us an extra base once or twice. We've got a solid home field advantage.

ETA, only break out dancing Bugs on special occasions:

It was so loud on tv after that run was walked in that the announcers did not talk at all for quite a long moment. I don’t see sporting events on tv where announcers are as silently they were for what seemed two minutes last night.

Dave, Ben, and Chris did a great job of not talking last night...

And that's not some slight. They let the crowd and stadium set the mood and it felt at times like your living room was in the New Dude.

It was refreshing that they didn't feel the need to fill every last second with inane blathering just to avoid dead air.
But I'm biased, because the sound of our crowd losing their minds is always great to hear.

Yes watching on TV is unreal. There is nothing else like it in college baseball. Not even close.

Their players sat in the dugout watching the crowd and they might have looked sad but you could see they were really impressed. I am quite sure that they have not seen anything like that in college baseball.

I wonder how many wished they were a part of something like what we have.

Pump the brakes. Have you not heard? We can’t compete with LSU. They have a monopoly on loud crowds. We can only wish to play second fiddle to the corn dogs.

I commented on this when Mac hit the homer. Those guys didn't talk over it.

Although there were times that they did talk but you couldn't hear them over the crowd. So maybe they just gave up in that situation.

Their bleach blond kid was about to get on my last nerve with the way that he was nearly single handedly carrying them, but I have a lot of respect for their club now that it’s over.

From their head coach to the players, they just seemed to be out there having a good time, and while their best wasn’t good enough this past weekend, they made a concerted effort to stick around and congratulate our guys. Tip of the cap to Stanford baseball

Their right fielder was signing baseballs (for our fans kids) by bullpen after our victory lap and their team meeting. After signing 4-5 he tipped his cap and everyone along rail applauded him and thanked him for being such a good sport.

Anybody flip over to UCLA Michigan when it was over? Contrast was stark. More Michigan fans it sounded like than UCLA. Bottom of the 9th inning, one run down, and they show the stands and one UCLA fan is standing up, turned around to the crowd** behind him extolling them to stand the 17 up and cheer. Crazy.

I can’t remember exactly when it occurred, but I specifically remember when we started to rally in the mid-innings, they went silent and let everything play out for a couple minutes. It was really cool and made you feel like you were actually there for a second. What a night. All time classic I will remember forever.

It was cool to see their entire team just stand on their dugout fence and watch the entire post game celebration in awe.

I think that they really enjoyed the atmosphere and appreciated the stage even though they came up short. I like to think that teams like Stanford and other brainy universities approach athletics as truly extracurricular activities. Win or lose they walk away and say "that was fun and we're still smart".

At the end of the day, they will have an education from Stanford. That is worth a LOT.

That's part of what tore me up so much about losing to them a few years ago. Their fans barely even noticed they were playing for a championship.
