Morning D-Leaguers!
Hot last night when I traveled to Chickasha for co-ed softball. 102° according to the gauge in my truck. Good thing is we won both games and had some cloud cover with light winds to help make it bearable. We did better than the Reds who were shutout after scoring big on Wednesday night. Seems to happen a lot to them when they have those big scoring games.
Last workday of the week for you worker bees so, kick it in the butt and get home safe for the weekend.

Quit bowling in HS. Averaged around 160-65 in HS. Threw predominantly a straight ball with a slight curve. Tried to bowl again after years of not bowling and I could not keep from having a wicked curve. Had to change my approach completely. Would enjoy bowling in a league again, if it was just for kicks, giggles, and friendships. Passed it by some friends. No takers.

Good morning folks.
An achy day for me. I drove to my parents house in Campbell County yesterday AM to help my siblings in the monumental task of emptying out my parents' house to try to get it on the real estate market. My dad was a pipeline welder, fitter and metal fabricator and the huge garage was packed with everything from a boiler he made by hand that must have weighed 1,000 pounds to two or three electric motor, metal plated pitching machines he built, pipe bevelers, Lincoln welders and on and on. If we had the time and patience, some of the stuff would have brought some money. But we didn't so my brother made a deal with a metal scrapper and we'll get a few hundred bucks out of our cut of that.
Then there is the house...We barely made a dent yesterday, despite straining every muscle in my aging body. My sister's three 20-something boys are joining the campaign today so, with them and my three brothers and BIL, we'll get it done. Heartbreaking the stuff we've already tossed. My sister gave basically a whole house full of good furniture and two old but working cars to her church to distribute to families with need. The rest we are just tossing in a giant dumpster bin we rented. The stuff of a lifetime. The family moved into the house in 1966. When I drive away tomorrow, I guess I'll never set foot in it again.

God's peace and comfort to you and your family MdW. I cannot imagine but thinking back to when my Mom and Dad passed, they had not accumulated much but what they had was "pilfered" quickly from "friends" and a couple that had access to their "stuff". Not a lot anyway though so... I did feel and do still feel really bad for my brother as my Dad had what I called a long tom double barreled shotgun that was manufactured in a factory that Teddy Roosevelt owned so I am told but I found later Roosevelt never did own a gun factory so... It was all my Dad really had but his wife at the time gave that away for nothing to one of her...(For cheap...)

I can relate to that with the warehouse I am selling (long story I have partially told on here). I had a bandsaw over a hundred years old that weighed over a thousand pounds that I would have loved to keep that I sold for scrap. Lots of accumulated things had to go.
Just been watching the Tour de France on NBC because the stage is thru a southern France region where we vacationed some 10 years ago. Around the 66km to go mark, they went thru the little village of Beynac where we stayed a few nights with the Beynac Castle above it overlooking the Dordogne River. Beautiful area to see the least.

Good morning folks. I’m about to head back to Maryland. Hoping for good weather and an easy nine-hour drive.
We managed to pretty much get my parents house cleaned out yesterday, and the garage. It was a bittersweet day, throwing out stuff that had been a big part of their lives and they couldn’t bear to part with themselves. One example: My dad had kept a massive player piano in the garage since he moved it there after his mother died nearly 50 years ago. He just couldn’t face selling it or junking it. But when we checked it out, it was rotted to the point you couldn’t possibly sell it or give it away. Worse, it must have weighed 1,000 pounds -my brothers and I and a nephew are all big guys and we could barely move it, and had no way to get it into a dumpster. So, we took two sledge hammers and an electric saw and cut it to pieces. It was a heart break. Dad loved that damn thing just for what it symbolized to him -a boyhood listening to ragtime piano rolls.
After a full day of stuff like that I’m sore from head to toe. But a tough job done.

Rain, rain and more rain here. Wife and I are heading to the lake tomorrow. Dad isn't going to go. I fear he will be backing out about 50% of the time now.

Dad had a nice room built onto his "he shed" just to store their Christmas junk. I'm afraid the entire building will be full of junk within a year. I guess they are kids of parents that lived through the depression so..... That trait has passed down somewhat to my wife and I, but we have at least recognized the problem.
Has everyone heard how great Trent Noah has been in practice. Sometimes I wonder about Pope. He sure didn't do Trent any favors last year building up his shooting and he has double downed this year.

I just dropped My Darling off at choir practice. I am sitting in the car drinking coffee. The BB comes back today late. Have to pick him up at the airport at near midnight. I sure miss him but I have his and my office nearly cleaned.
When we went to Florida, I gave mine and the BB’s laptop to my son. It was a good one and he needed it for his personal stuff. Got my two oldest grandson and granddaughter laptops as well. I am searching hard for another laptop but not rushing. My UPS died yesterday. A new one should be here today. Baby stuff but stuff…

Plenty of lightning and Thunder but the rain held off just long enough to get the walk in. Lightning and thunder did not phase her as she went about her business as usual.

Was listening to the Cards game. They said Jordan Walker was practicing his home run swing in BP and hitting massive Mark McGuire type shots using BP balls. They said MLB uses very tightly strung balls in Home Run derby to make it more impressive for TV.

Good morning folks. Stuck on a shuttle bus in gridlock traffic because my subway line is shutting down several stations for the summer and you have to take a bus to reconnect. A total commuter nightmare. I’m too old for this.
I heard from my son last night. He’s still pulling overnight shifts with a “Hot Shots” crew trying to contain that fire on the Colorado-Utah border. I’m concerned that as this becomes routine and the initial adrenaline rush is gone that the crew chief will start getting reckless. My son assures me that he’s using his own judgment and won’t follow anyone blindly. Which I believe —that’s been a mantra between us since he was a boy.

I have been around but stupidly busy.. (I AM thankful though.)
Had to pick up my grandson at DCA (DC Airport) at 11:45pm or so then the flight got delayed due to the long DCA airstrip being closed SO, the flight was reassigned to the Baltimore airport (BMI) (Morning before last.), Ended up picking them up there right at 0400... yeah, hard on a seven year old.
Took his Dad from there to DCA so he could catch his return flight at 6:15AM but missed it by less than five minutes but got on another flight back to SA in less than ten minutes so all was good.
Anyway got home about 0645 or so, went to sleep and the BB and I got up about 1:15PM and I got ready and headed right back to DC to the VA hospital for MRI's at 3. Thought it was one MRI but it turned into two. (Two hours) then back to the house at about 6:10, ate a sandwich My Darling made (A steak sandwich), then went with the BB to the pool until it closed at 8, then took the BB to his Mom who just got off work.
Today it has been me and the BB and Ama...(Me and the BB got up at 7.) Ama got up later(Had pancakes and sausage) Me and the BB hit the road to check things. (His favorite stores.), (Had to setup my new UPS but just finished that so...) We are good and I am again thankful...
Was going to hit the pool again, we shall see if I can lull him out of it but if so I will take another dunking.

Days have been slightly cooler for this area. Mid to upper 80's yesterday and again for today. Possibility of some rain this afternoon.
I have 2 co-ed softball games tonight if the rain does not cancel them. We are currently sitting at 6-2 for this league. The teams we play tonight are supposed to be 2 of the better ones of this league. We shall see. The only 2 losses we have so far happened on the same night, and those 2 teams were not that good. We had an off night that night so, we will see how the team responds to tougher competition tonight.
Spain vs Argentina for the World Cup. Will not watch but I am glad England and France are both out.

Speaking of wildfires, they are pulling my son's crew off the line after three weeks. He's not sure what's next. He tried to hook up with another crew right away but he was told three days off was mandatory. I suspect he needs the rest more than he realizes.

Our realtor sounded positive today about our closing being soon. She was telling us about a closing she recently had. It involves some low income housing being built in the area. I failed to ask, but I guess that would be federal (maybe also state). She said it took three years to get to the closing on the property over government delays.
Id be interested in seeing those details. Sounds seriously weird Sir.

I don't have the details. A few years ago, a tornado destroyed a large section of low income housing in the area. They are just now starting to rebuild at a new location. I don't know who owned the property and whether the city, state or feds bought it. I suspect at least some graft was involved somewhere.
