Happy Fathers Day to all the D-League dads. Heard from all three of my kids and they are all doing well and happy with what’s happening in their lives, so that’s all a father can ask for.

Beautiful day in the east. I went for a long run and the weather way perfect -70f and low humidity.

Have a great day folks.

Hello All,

Went to church this morning in Gainesville. Went out to eat….

Kind of re-created a significant event….(Hope this works using my phone….)

This was a Father’s Day pic from I think 2017 versus a few minutes ago…

Hello All,

A relatively slow day today so far...

Tomorrow turns busy, still in Newberry Florida enjoying my grand babies. My Darling is working overtime though. Just WoW... We plan on leaving Wednesday morning heading to Harrogate, TN...

Have a peaceful rest of your day(s), look for a special thing to happen the rest of the day. If you look hard you can usually find it....

Good morning folks. Got into the DC office very early today...Then have accomplished very little by doing so.

Full-on summer in the east. Sweaty and oppressively humid from now til at least Labor Day. In some ways, now that I'm not a school kid with summer vacation to look forward to, this is my least favorite season. Maybe I'll drive to the Delaware coast on Friday and enjoy a weekend at the beach...

For now, you all have a good day.

Good morning folks. Looks like the D-League may have run its course - no posts since mine yesterday. If so, we've had a good run. SUnny and cool in the east. A perfect day. Good reports from my son, who is absolutely loving his Colorado job -- living in a tent now on a remote mountain side while he and a crew build fire breaks, and getting 18 hours pay a day -- and also from my wife - she had a fun evening in Porto in Portugal at a summer solstice festival that sounds like something out of early Hemingway. While I grind it out at my office cell in DC.

But, hey, we all make our decisions. Or as Hyman Roth put it:

Couple folks are out. Hence the inactivity.
Couple of folks struggling with internet problems and been finishing up my neighbor's stepdaughter's apt. Wore me out. He has been hurting and can't do the hard stuff, so I am/was doing a lot of it. Finished Yesterday with the drywall portion so now his wife and stepdaughter are going to paint it. I am done.

Now, did my shopping today, house cleaning, and monster walk.Tomorrow, exercise, monster walk, and grass cutting along with 2 co-ed softball games in Chickasha OK in the evening. Past 2 weeks have been fast and furious. Forgot how it felt to be so busy. I don't like it. Been retired for over 5 years now and have gotten old in my lazy age. No wait... scratch that... Lazy in my old age.

Morning D-Leaguers!

Warm and muggy with a high in the mid 90's expected.

Monster walk, exercise, and grass cutting on tap for the morning. Back to couch potato status for the afternoon. Ball games later on in the evening at 8 and 9pm.

Still feeling spent because of all of the work past couple of weeks. Might take a few days of couch potato status to re-energize.

You folks try to enjoy your day and God Bless.

Good morning folks. It's a ghost town in my office: There are street closings ahead of some of the pre-250th Anniversary events and people were given the option to stay home. Virtually everyone did.

I came in for the delightful reason that my daughter is coming over to go to lunch with me. Always great to see any of my three kids. Plus, I'm taking her to a restaurant that has the best guacamole and best authentic Mexican food I think I've ever had.

My wife is still overseas, so hanging with her cats at night (including for now my son's cat which got dropped on him by an ex-girlfriend during his UK days, and who he couldn't take to Colorado with him.)

Hope you all have a great day.

Hello, (Yeah DARN, I hated missing you!) (I will call you sometime over the weekend if okay?)(I will keep track and if at all possible I will plan to come meet you somehow.) I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and Monday... (I will post some pics. The cemetery was hard to find, even after I got there. Had to knock on a door but she was a nice young lady and we were real close and got there.

We JUST got back home. I am logged on my computer for the first time in a while.

Yeah Gary was a good kid but last I heard he got into some big time trouble BUT, I saw him on facebook and it seems he got going a little better.

I will stop now but I drove and drove... We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Middlesboro last night.

Talk to you soon.

Might as well post a few tonight....

My Darling and I stopped in the Gap (Cumberland Gap) earlier today around 10 or so... Below are a few pictures I took. The gas station I lived on top of when I was in the third grade. I went inside and the kid watching the place let me take older pictures of the gas station (See below.)

I then stopped over to where I thought the school used to be that I attended. (It was a historical place but now it is the Cumberland Gap City Hall.) I went inside while My Darling stayed in the car and I talked to one man there for near 20 minutes. He seemed to know some of my kin. He stated he was a high school teacher in Middlesboro until 1986. (He mentioned why but I forgot.)

In any event here are the pics I took this morning...

I took this one while inside city hall. The guy was nice enough. When I asked him about the school as I thought it may have burned down or something as the building was at the point where the historical marker was on my last trip... He told me I was standing in it. Seems I was in the last class of that one room school while in the third grade... (My only year there.)

That shed thing was not there when I lived there... I used to play on that patio on top a lot. (Climbed down by rope once...yeah.)

The young guy that was in there let me take this picture...

I have some more if any are interested... (Someone asked me about Gap pictures a while ago but I forgot who..)

This is some of the cemetery pics I took...

Once I got directions on a gravel road past a barn I had no issues fidning it. Had to cross a few cattle guards to get to it...

I took this when we were exiting the cemetery...

Have a good rest this evening...

Morning D-Leaguers!

Well, I got to feel how it feels to lose a game this year. With the Tailgaters in Lawton we went 14-0 in the spring league. But with the Alcoballics in Chickasha we are now 2-2. Lost both last night as our defense was atrocious. After congratulating the other team, we started off of the field when I said "Man, we sucked tonight." The woman that is running the team with her husband said: "Mac, we're supposed to stay positive". I said: "Well, I am positive we sucked tonight". She said: "I have to try to keep the team's attitude good". I said: "OK, and I will be honest about how we played". A couple of the other players felt the way I did as there was no motivation or hustle last night. It was a comedy of errors.

Anyway, the end of spring season tournament for Lawton is this Sunday so, we will find out who was the better team in that league as 2 teams went 14-0 and did not get a chance to play each other as there were too many teams to play everyone. We won the league based on runs scored as we scored more overall than the other team. That team has the son of one of the guys I used to play with many years ago with a men's team in Lawton. He and I played together for about 12 years with the same team and won about 7 state titles at different levels.

TGIF folks so, knock out the day and prepare for the weekend and God Bless.

Good morning folks. Happy Friday. Cloudy and muggy in the east. I knocked off a run this morning and am back to work.

Thanks for the photos of the Cumberland Gap, BBUK.I always liked camping down around that area.

It reminded me of a story from the summer after high school, 1973. On a Friday night me and two buddies were just out driving around drinking beer and shots of Kessler's cheap whiskey on the backroads of Campbell County. We had one friend who had worked his way up to Nights and Weekend Manager at a Roy Rogers in Ft. Thomas and he was real serious about his job. About 1am in the morning he was so drunk he climbed into the back seat and said, "don't take me home. Let me get some sleep back here. But make sure I'm at Roy's at 7am."

But the driver and me decided we wanted to see something new that night and after talking it over we decided that new thing was Cumberland Falls. So we got on I-75 and headed south for the 3-4 hour drive to Cumberland Park.

As I remember it we pulled into the parking lot at Cumberland falls about day break. And you could hear the falls from where we parked. About that time the guy in the back stirred and said, "Where are we?" We told him we were at AJ Jolly lake in Campbell County. "What time is it? I gotta get to Roy's." We convinced him we had an hour or so to kill, and we all staggered down the path until we rounded the bend, and there was the falls. The guy who'd been sleeping it off said, "Damn, I been to this lake many times, I don't remember a water falls." That's when we broke the bad news to him that we were about 200 miles from our home town and it didn't look like he was making his shift. But he took it pretty well, and I recall us having a great time that weekend before we all had to get to work on Monday morning - in my case a construction job.

Better get back to the job I have now. You all have a good day.

Nice pictures. Seeing that bronze soldier grave marker reminds me of the one for Dad. Thieves took it for the metal less than a year after installation for the metal. Lucky that one is in a remote location.

Great pics. Thanks.

Indeed, cemetery hard to find. Last time I visited it was 1994.

I hiked from Shawanee through the Gap to my late mother's house in Middlesboro back in 2012. Sat for a bit at nearby Lee's Food Mart down street from mom's with daughter and her then-husband and then hiked back to Ellen Myers school. Love it up there during spring, summer and fall. Prefer FL or TX during winter. Moving back within next year, depending on wife's condition.

Thanks, I am convinced I will take a trip back down soon. (We are a one car family right now but I plan to buy my wife a car as soon as I find exactly what she wants... BWAHAHA...) I may watch to see when ATXC is there as well. I'd make the trip to visit you and ATXC. My wife has some sort of woman's trip coming up, if all works out I may make the trip. (I will ensure all know well in advance but I sure would be honored to meet you and ATXC...)

I just got back from one medical appointment. I have another one Monday. I am not doing much else today if I have anything to say about it. I will be on my computer for a bit and may watch a movie or three.

Have a fine rest of your days...

I cannot tell you how many trips I took from The Gap to the Y on that train track through the tunnel... Me and my BB gun... Had relatives on both ends and in the third grade I made that trip many, many times...

Since you have been helping your friend, a story that might interest you. It is about Roger MarIs the off season after his 61 homers. Roger was friends with a fOrmer teammate Whitey Herzog.
Whitey was building a new house (building himself, not paying to have it built as players were not so well paid then). Whitey said Roger showed up early every morning with tools in hand and a lunch pail. Roger helped him build The house and refused to take a dime for the help.

Good morning.

My family of bluebirds are frolicking about in the yard with the hummingbirds buzzing around behind me.

We had 2 bear walk through yesterday just before dark about 15 minutes apart. So far, so good. No trouble makers yet. How close have you been to a bear?

Nose to nose..... with a 1/4 piece of glass between us. Staring into his eyes and he had no idea I was there. Porch light was on but dark inside.

Good morning folks. Waited out a long rain and am now on along hike. Whew. If the ocean would measure 100 percent humidity, then the air im walking in is 99 percent.

My wife is getting back from her adventure in Portugal tomorrow, so my last day to totally control the TV watching YouTube games of Kentucky”s transfers from last year.

I hope you all are having a good Saturday.

Afternoon to everybody. A lot of flooding going around and not much outside. Going with the family to see Supergirl. Daughter is paying for the whole family as a fathers day present. Then back home where my son is cooking dinner for us.

Been off work all week working VBS at our church. Back to the grind Monday just in time for the heat. Fun times.

Everybody be safe out there.

Hello All,

Just dropped My Darling off at choir. Sitting in my car in front of church drinking coffee and eating a piece of dark chocolate. (85% variety.)

First time we’ve been away in a long while… Ha, got my feelings hurt again…

My church is having some technology security issues. (I actually made them aware of it.) They are moving forward “hiring” a group to fix the issues. My feelings part… I offered to assist them in fixing it. (I have the certs and resume to do that as I did that for a living for the DOD and DON as the lead in several areas over a lot of years.) The hurt feelings part…. I told them there is no need for any compensation…

Just double ouch…

Anyway, I am thankful… I know what I know… ;)

Enjoy your days….
