The ncaa needs to ban 'self imposed' penalties.

Fine, a school can sit out the postseason or reduce scholarships, but those shouldn't count at all.
This is especially true in a year where a damn pandemic has caused chaos and disrupted college athletics to the point that players get an extra season of eligibility.
And this is doubly especially true when its decided mid-season. 17 that. It screws over players mid-season. What are they supposed to do?


The ncaa really needs to address the pre-emptive self punishments.

Or they could just apply the appropriate punishment after the fact.

They have a matrix. Use the 17ing thing.

If the school gets the punishment right, go with it. If they don’t, add to it to make it fit the damn matrix.

It shouldn’t be hard or subjective, but somehow they have made it that way.

Allowing the school to self impose on their own mid-season like this completely 17s over the student athletes. They are stuck and dont have the option to transfer at this point.
Your solution doesnt solve this glaring issue.
