Thigpen reminds me a lot of Timmy Bowers

A great bulldog who was somewhat overshadowed by a high profile teammate(s) and vastly underrated by those that didn't see him play on a regular basis.

Does anyone know how often Clark and thigpen and others make it back to campus/Starkville . Judging by comments from Raffy in the doc he doesn't get back

Thigpen seems to make it back a lot. Clark on occasion. Not sure about Raffy since he is so quiet. Quite frankly, Thigpen and Clark seem to make their returns more public so it feels like they are on campus more often.

I came to the '92 (?) alumni game when they had a ceremony for Clark, Raffy, Brantley, and Thigpen. Thigpen pitched one inning, and if memory serves me correct, it was 9 fastballs with no contact made.

I had a couple of opportunities to hang with Clark for a couple of days and he said the same thing about Thigpen. I'm glad people are finally understanding that Clark is just a country *** Louisiana boy with limited filtering and realize he is not an *******. The times I spent with him he was funny as hell and reminded me a lot of the good ol' boys I grew up with. I'd love to get a chance to meet Thigpen.

The one thing I gleaned from that show is that Raffy, bless his heart....

Is a bit clueless.

Two data points.

Prime example of course is the whole steroid head scratcher.

The other was the story about him going through all of the motions to become a part of the US Olympic team and he had no inkling that he was not a US citizen. How does a man get to the age of 20-21 years old, do the things in life he did and not figure that out?

I kinda think that not knowing when to keep one's mouth shut tends to makes one assholish. Funny, entertaining, but still an *******.

Hold on now. Raffy owned the Spanish Prof. in our Spanish 101 class. He was Spanish speaking M17er and M17er wasn't even in the textbook.

He got here when he was a little kid. Cubans that could make it were granted asylum. I doubt citizenship ever came up in his household. He probably just assumed he was a citizen. In fact, as I recall, that's exactly what he thought.

I imagine Raffy was slaying some serious gash in Starkville and Clark didn't get the love from the women like Palmero was. I told my wife as we watched it I speculate that's what fueled his resentment for Palmero initially. Raffy was a Latin Romeo and Clark looked like a coon *** with Bell's Palsy.
