As the playoffs approached one of the Havelock posters declared that any of 5 teams in the 3A East would beat anyone from the West. Clearly SP proved that theory to be full of holes. After watching these teams play, I believe that Hibriten would beat RM but RM would probably beat Tuscola or Pisgah. IMO, the Mounties and the Bears would beat Havelock and the rest of the Eastern contingent. The best football is played Greensboro and west.

West dominated this weekend winning 6 of 8.

Funny... plenty of NON SP fans had more faith in the Red Raiders than the SP fans. Congrats... I guess.
Non SP fans can't react to what happens on Raider turf with the same emotion as a SP fan. It's rather easy looking at it from the outside in which is the only way a non SP fan can do. Most of what you heard were the same thing you would have heard from any higher caliber program starting the season 2-4. Only 1 Raider fan really crossed the ethical boundary and took it to far.

This is a very special championship this year no doubt. Having what looked like a miserable year starting off to winning the championship is just incredible. It just made that game yesterday all that much more special. And to have the chance to avenge your only finals loss in school history the very next year, also special. But for me personally, the best part was seeing Mickey Lineberger finally get his first championship as a head coach. He is the heart of South Point football and has been so since practically the beginning of South Point. Oh, he's done plenty before, playing on a championship team, assistant coach and AD of championship teams but to finally get one as the head coach, that was special. This has to be his best coaching year, hands down. To be able to turn that group of greenhorns around to who they are today is just miraculous. I know a lot of us had serious doubts about this season but I also know there is a group of coaches in Belmont that never had a thought of giving up. This team and these coaches epitomize what the spirit of Belmont is all about. We are so very fortunate to be able to be a small part of it as fan and witness each week what goes on there. Congratulations to the 2016 NC State 3A Champions, the Red Raiders from South Point! You have made us proud again!
