This will be interesting. I always kind of assumed there were never any actual metrics and Trev just laid out his expectations to Frost and kind of misspoke when using the term “metrics”, instead of something like “expectations”. I guess we will see soon.

Not being able to stop a middling Sunbelt squad was the final failing metric. Frost is getting paid out. Alberts needed exactly no metrics and USA Today is just trolling.

I'm more interested in the metrics involved with MJ continuing as our HC. Or is it just Trev's gut feeling post season?

I’m sorry … but in year 5 the metric was 6 wins and he got to revert back to the original contract???

after going 1-2 Trev had to fire him before entering Big ten play because with how ****** the schedule is there was a chance he met those metrics

i hope there is some language that protects the university given frost wasn’t given the chance to meet those lame metrics

I so agree with your first sentence. There should be no way Frost should have been given any metrics. He had had enough opportunities and years to succeed. Anything less than actually competing for conference championship should have been grounds for firing.
Losing to Northwestern, getting by North Dakota, and losing to Georgia Southern just shows how lousy a job Frost had done and was doing. Should have been tied to Gate 25, and everyone entering could kick his sorry rear end.

I'm glad we got metrics revealed. If it wasn't public employees I wouldn't care. But that's the nature of it.

So is Frost potentially at being liable of returning his buyout now or something? I don't get the purpose of this unless that's the case.

Anything less than winning the division? For 2022 when his contract was renegotiated? No f---ing way that was gonna happen. I'm guessing it was "beat this team, compete against this team, no expectations against this team" etc. "Beat Georgia Southern" was probably on the list of metrics.

I guess, but it’s not like they are paid with public money. And what happens if Mickey now wins 6 and gets us Bowl eligible?

Cripes on a cracker. This really is bottom of the barrel. Embarrassing.

"And what happens if Mickey now wins 6 and gets us Bowl eligible?"
I guess that would depend on what the metrics are.

I guess I could see a downside to this as far as being a prospective destination for coaches...

We really let Frost sick around too long. It never had to get to this...

A bunch of hard asses thought trev was going to put frost over a barrel. In the end a bowl game would have got the job done when the contract restructure took place.

Should be informative when folks are speculating about the type of hire trev is going to make for full time. He’s not going for a guaranteed 11 win type of coach, he’ll take a solid performance with long term chance of improvement.

Terrible AD gonna do terrible things. No faith in an AD to hire a coach and set high expectations. Get used to being okay at best.

College football is changing. It’s less about teams and more about conferences. It’s definitely more NFL like than when we were dominating.

for teams to protect or grow their brand they don’t have to be Bama. They just have to be in a top tier league and be competitive with the other teams in it so they get their fair share of exposure.
Back when only a handful of top teams were on tv regularly you had to do much more individually to stay relevant.

Just a quick opinion......
The metrics revealed today by Alberts were simply the metrics for Frost to get his original contract terms back. It was simply the salary. Hell, the more I think about it, the more I think Alberts freaking played Frost. There were never any metrics listed for what Frost had to do to keep his job. Just what he had to do to get his salary back. So, if things went well and Frost won 6 games, Alberts could say, great, we are going to go a different direction with the football team. We would like to thank Coach Frost blah blah blah.....we will be conducting a national search starting today.

Can you tell us what that’s like? Being okay at best? We’ve not had that experience, since we’ve been the best before already, numerous times.

You are not much of a critical thinker with understanding the metrics. Not surprised. You have repeatedly shown the low level intelligence you possess.

Frost probably never had a chance to keep his job after this year. This year was set up to be a failure by ALL involved. The fans got played.

But he fired the guy after three games. So does it matter? Where the metrics really easy on him, when he got canned anyway, way before it was mathematically impossible for him to get to six wins?

The fans got played? It's not like Nebraska had Nick Saban and they up and fired him thus screwing the fans out of some fun Saturdays.

"All involved" got 4 wins a season... that's a 34% win percentage....so I suppose you mean opposing fans got played?

It's just been reported that as part of the contract amendment in November 2021, Nebraska agreed not to fire Frost for the possible NCAA violations. Presumably, it was something Nebraska agreed to in return for Frost agreeing to the reduction in his buyout that was to take effect on October 1.

So if Frost won a B1G championship, had NE posting 10/11 win seasons and had recruiting violations and extramarital affairs should NE keep him?

Just asking for the record.

In 2019, 2020, and 2021 he won a total of 11 games, so doubt this would have ever been an issue.
