The Masters will be without "patrons" in November

I assume that's news since it was on the Golf Channel crawler. They hope to be back to normal by April, but I'm not sure how they'll handle the lottery for people who won to attend this year's tournament. I suppose they'll be out of luck.

The Masters in November is going to be strange. No azaleas, no crowd, and it remains to be seen if the bent grass greens make it through the summer in Augusta - hot place. I believe they normally close the course for the summer and redo the greens every year in the fall.

I received an email addressing this from the committee this morning. Lottery winners will have first choice next year. Anything left will be distributed through the lottery system afterwards.

OK, seems reasonable. Might be a few cancellations but likely not very many.

I’m sure they shut it down in the hot summer months, but there is no way they put down new greens every year.
ETA: I’ve never been able to get a tee time in August. I assumed it was the golf now app messing up, but it could just be closed then.

You can get tee times at augusta through the Golf Now app? That's very subtle sarcasm?

But back on topic of the thread, I’m enjoying golf without patrons. I also thought it was great when a player was looking for a ball during the pga championship and the commentators said if patrons had been there he’d be able to find the ball. Welcome to my world!

One year Spring was late with no bloom yet ... Fuzzy Zoeller that night in a media conference said he was on the 13th Tee and took a closer look at the Azaleas and discovered they were silk or plastic .... he busted them right there on national television but by God they had some Azaleas there so who knows what they will come up with in the fall

They’ve also put down tons of ice to keep the air and ground cooler to prevent blooming too soon if spring comes early. These people don’t know what money is.
