The loss in a nutshell

Oklahoma State turned 4 WVU offense turnovers into 4 touchdowns.

WVU got ball back to WVU offense 7 times with turnovers and forcing punts. WVU offense got 7 points.

At one point, WVU special teams and defense, in 50 seconds, outscored WVU offense, 14-10.

That's the most disoriented and disconnected WVU offense of the season.

With first place Iowa State up next in Mountaineer Field, followed by Kansas State, Texas and Oklahoma, some serious regrouping and reorganizing is in order, from the coaches and the players.

Maybe losing The Mountaineer to the DUI suspension threw the offense off? Makes as much sense as any other theory.

I was cold and wet, but the 50-second excitement when the offense was on the sidelines was the heart-warming highlight of the day.

In fairness, the receivers looked lost in their routes. Not entirely Grier’s fault. Several times the WR didn’t look back expecting the ball. Is that coaching or the WR fault?
I noticed that, too. I wrote here or elsewhere that there was a disconnect. It was not always Grier's fault. It was not always the receivers' fault. But too often the offense imploded without being pressured into it by Oklahoma State. It was our own damn fault!

The same was that the defense, which gave the offense the ball in good shape 7 times, saw only 7 points score because of it. And then, as I pointed out, in 50 seconds the defense (6-point pick) and special teams (of all things!), with a blocked punt for a TD, scored 14 points, as a time when the offense had scored 10 points. When has that ever happened?

And Iowa State no longer is a free pass, but a torture chamber. And that's next in Mountaineer Field. Either WVU mans up or the freefall begins. I'll be there to hope for a revival.

How many times do we have to watch Simms quit on a passing route. Maybe the one pick wasn’t the best throw but Will threw it to where Simms was running to but Simms just plain stopped running.
At this point, since Roberson can’t redshirt this year, it’s be interesting to see him get some reps in place of Simms here and there. Maybe it’d motivate Simms. For that matter, D Maiden can run a go route. Let him have a few reps.
