We all know what their offense was...we just didn't know it was an NFL offense.

No wonder Treadwell has been a complete bust. Guys who go through that system are told to just "get open".

What’s hilarious is, that idiot actually believes this. He’s in for a rude awakening.

He probably just hurt is draft stock in three ways:

1. Acknowledging that he's learned no discipline or structure within that offense, nor has he really been coached
2. Showing a selfish nature (letting me be me)
3. Showing a shocking lack of intelligence by saying what he said there and actually believing it

I can't believe he is not smart enough to know not to say dumb things like just get open, be free. Someone needs to ask UM receiver recruits, "can you just get open? If so, you know the shark offense!".

Run to the oak tree and turn right.

I've got this visual of Al Pacino telling Jamie Foxx "You're back in Dallas, enjoying yourself. You're back in the, ya know, the hood, right before mama calls you home for dinner. Go run to the Buick, turn around, and I'll throw it to you".

Actually... I think I just cracked Longo's playbook.

Amazing, we have the former highly praised WR coach for GB Packers (and tell me you don't think his absence might have a little to do with their current sorry state) as our OC. Someone who can truly teach them to be an NFL WR. They have Longo "hey, run it out there and get open, son" as their OC and the top WRs in this state are still jumping to sign-up. Crazy to me.

Because they keep sending WR's to the NFL, when was our last WR to get drafted?

It may sound crazy, but that crazy sh!4 has been working for OM since Freeze got there. AJ and DK were "open" a whole hell of a lot this year even against good teams. But we will see how they perform in the NFL. No doubt they have the talent, so they'll get their chance with some team no matter how stupid he sounds.

Hell. At least they did get open. Maybe Getsy needs to try it. I'm game for anything.

Can you point to which "good teams" they got open a whole hell of lot against?

No doubt. We laugh, but it is what it is.

They've evaluated WRs significantly better than us. I don't believe the development is much different & yes they have bought some players, but they've also out evaluated us at those positions.

Obviously, there is more than one way to execute the passing game. I would like to just toss in some information to fellow sixpackers. Just get open is a credible mindset in the passing game. Some schemes have receivers read the secondary while on the run. The receivers will option their patterns based on secondary movement thus this is just get open in some regards. I will give a brief example without making this to large. In some offenses, a slot receiver will release diagonally towards the slot defender with top end speed to force a survival countermove. At the same time that slot receiver will glance towards the corner back to see if the wide receiver has threatened that corner back with top end speed. If the corner back has bailed out deep due to threat, the slot receiver will break off the pattern to the vacated area of the threatened corner back. If the corner back does not bail deep, the slot receiver will continue his vertical assault. His job is just get open.

I would still say that's an A-or-B option, not "just get open". The QB has to know where to look for the receiver.

I gave the scenario for the slot receiver. I have seen this read executed at the JUCO level. Your A - B option does come into play. There is something called a triangle read that I suspect you have heard of or understand. The QB will track the slot defender and the corner back as well as the receiver thus part of the triangle. The receiver will just get open and the quarterback might see the proceedings because of the same read executed by the slot receiver that caused the receiver to get open in the voided area left by the corner back due to top end speed by the wide receiver. Some upper tiered high schools actually can do this in a scaled down manner.

I saw that and wondered how in the world is he on so many top wr receiver list ms for the draft. He doesn’t have the measurables for it. He doesn’t obviously have the training for it. Just the hype and some decent numbers the last few years. To be honest, even though the guy is hated by MSU fans for the pissing thing, Metcalf is more of first round type receiver. Don’t know if he is healthy enough.
