I starteded watching it on Netflix. But there's nothing that I haven't seen a million times before.

Jordan is the GOAT. But I'm gonna PUKE if I have to listen to ANOTHER interview with Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Reinsdorf, Krause, Worthy....or anyone saying what a competitor he is. And this is from someone who likes Jordan. It's true...but I've seen it a million times.

He's never going to tell the real story on that. The rumors I've heard largely center around gambling as Jordan was a notorious gambling addict.

His father was also murdered about that same time. I've seen conspiracy theories that tie that murder to gambling debts, the mafia, God knows what. The official story is that they killed him in an armed robbery/carjacking.

As with any public mystery there are a lot of theories on it and some of them are totally nuts.

I get what your saying but Jordan at that time was worth half a billion dollars when his dad was killed; whatever gambling debts he had I do not think that he would have had a problem paying them. Today he is worth anywhere between one to two billion dollars.

I believe in a lot of conspiracy theories but I honestly think Jordan believed he could play baseball. He had a rude awakening.

Just started watching last night - very interesting show so far.

Loved the line that said some like “Jordan may be better at his job than any person in any job that has ever lived”.

FWIW, I was as bored with the Bulls in the 90’s as I was with the Patriots the past X number of years.

I think he was given a vacation for gambling...BUT I don't think he had some huge debt that the mafia had his Dad killed, that just doesn't make sense.

I don’t understand why the NBA would banish the biggest star they’ve ever had because he stayed out late and liked to gamble. They would be flushing so much money down the toilet.

Overall I agree, wholeheartedly. The only thing that comes to mind is the 2 years Jordan didn’t play the NBA was more interesting in that it gave other teams a chance to win.

If a suspension due to gambling was legitimate, that might be the only rationale I could see that one would even entertain banishing the greatest player ever.

Either that or Hollywood talked Jordan into a baseball career so the Space Jam movie could be made.

That was still sort of in the "Pete Rose ruining baseball" time...gambling was "scary"

I think the NBA realized that it was better to suspend him for a bit and keep it quiet instead of letting it all out and having people wonder if the NBA was fixed (lord knows they have had some issues) . I think he bet on games or on stats for games "Hey, I bet I score 50 tonight" type of stuff.

This is all just a guess.

That would be the quietest suspension in the history of the world to keep it under wraps for this long. Was jordan a big sports gambler? I know he was beyond addicted to cards.

So if it wasn’t for the Baseball strike. Jordan wouldn’t have never returned to Baseball..

We’ll never know but I think he eventually given up on the baseball idea if his team wasn’t involved in the playoffs and the Whitesox wasn’t one of those teams..

That's what he said but I think MJ would have come back eventually. He just needed a break after his dad was killed. New challenges..etc
