Probably not quite as good as the '25 group, three of whom were drafted and likely to make NFL rosters.

Returning are Jr. LT Trevor Lauck and Jr. C/RG Kade Pieper. Both will almost certainly go in the 2027 NFL draft. Kirk and Lester reportedly really like veteran Jr. Leighton Jones at LG. Oft-injured Sr. Mike Myslinski missed spring ball but could start at RG- or C if Pieper moves back to guard. Redshirt freshman Lucas Allgeyer has impressed and also may start at RG.

The starters at C and RG seem to be the question, Jr. Cael Winter could be in there as well. However it shakes out Iowa should have a good OL in 2026. A couple of slots will be decided in fall camp (August) before the starting five take the field against Northern Illinois.

Thoughts?

I think Lauck and Pieper are most certainly first and second round caliber draft picks. They're going to be the anchor on an OLine that lost a lot of experience and leadership. Wasn't it rumored that Myslinski would possibly be moved to center?

I try not to take too much stock from the Spring, so I'll be extra attentive to Kirk's answers about the Line during fall camp. But with Kirk being an Oline guru and Barnett's great track record, I think we'll be better than we hoped after losing three starters.

Exactly. Enough legit pieces that the best men will win and it will be a strong line.

I really love this line.

As always, (assuming health) they will be as good as the opportunity they are given to develop a lather and pound in the running game

Yep. Whoever gets handed the ball should have some holes, and whoever drops back to pass should have some time.

Moreso vs. most opponents, but a few will be challenging to the big hosses.

I think Dotzler will do well at RT. He was competing with Lauck for a starting job last spring, and Lauck is probably going to be a millionaire a year from now.
Yea I think dotzler will be solid. they really like Allgeyer, its Going to be hard to keep him off the field.

Solid again with a lot of talent beneath the starters waiting to get better. It’s going to be solid for a number of yers

I forgot to mention Dotzler in my original post, but think he is solid at RT. I got caught up in the C-RG question. I absolutely trust Coach Barnett to figure it out, he has some good talent to work with.

The first three Big Ten games will test this offensive line- at Michigan, Ohio State, at Washington. Their work will be in the spotlight. I think they will be good and only get better.

Myslinski at C and Pieper staying at G make the most sense to me, but if they want to move Pieper to C then they must be pretty excited about one of the younger G's. I haven't heard a lot about the Trent Wilson kid from JMU but he's been my pick to win that RG spot.

Wilson has some upside, but some developing to do.

The staff will play the best five guys, and he isn't passing Myslinski or Allgeyer.

Could pass Winter, but that still won't get him in

Myslinski cannot stay healthy, also has he actually been granted an eligibility waiver?

I don’t think Myslinski starting at any position makes sense - missed too much time (Like every year for 4 years straight?) to be the best option at any OL spot.

I think they will be pretty darn good and hopefully have 3 games to get very situated. I’m pretty confident in this group and our offensive scheme. We are SO less predictable than the old BF offense and that really helps the Oline. Solid receivers, RBs and TEs just create more that defenses have to prepare for. We were so close last year. Hope the guys finish off some of those close games.
