Wow, their fans are still devistated over losing Monk. I have several colleagues that graduated from Arkansas and they won't even say his name. He is a beast and already one of my all time UK guards. It was a business decision that was well thought out. Much like UK losing Damien Harris to Bama. He made the best decision for him. I will be at the Arkansas game and praying Monk gets 25 pts! Hey Hogs, 1994 was 22 years ago. Move on!!

No excuse for the name calling and violence, but imagine if someone like Randall Cobb decided to come back to UK and play basketball for you and was later invited to work on your staff as a GA. Then later the family moves to Lexington and uses your facilities to work out in. Would your fans not be upset if he had a brother that was pushed to going to Louisville?

Something like this sort of happened with Russ Yeast in football.

His father Craig was a big time receiver for us in the 90's when Tim Couch was here. Russ was actually committed and then de committed and signed with Louisville when we wouldn't give his dad a job.

People were indeed salty about it but most of us got over it pretty fast and some even understood because at the time the football team looked terrible. I think it helps that we just beat UofL on their home field in the biggest upset of the season. But even before that most fans had stopped talking about it.

It would be more like if we had someone on staff that had a son that was good at football and the kid went to bama. I think more than likely people would want the brother fired at first but then they'd get over it in a few weeks.

Well we hate pretty much every player that goes to UofL. Besides which, we lose plenty of talented in-state kids in football to better programs and we don't lose our minds to the same extent Arkansas fans do.

Just because Marcus played at Arkansas doesn't mean you own the family. Marcus gave everything he had to you guys.

Turning down UK to go to UL (or any other basketball school) is a step-down or at most lateral step.
Turning down Arkansas to go to UK is a step-up. (this isn't the early 90's)
Now in your example if it had been UK football, and he turned down UK to go to Alabama, that would be a better example. Would I be disappointed? Yes. Would I be angry? No, because I would see it is probably in the best interest of the kid.

I always buy me SEC tournament tickets from them cheap after they are eliminated in first or second game. They will continue to be down until they fire "Rollin withNolan jr." Anderson is horrible. He is also a very disrespectful to SEC coaches after a loss. Almost as bad a crybaby Crean!

He's still living off that tournament victory over UK back in 04 or whenever it was.

It's a well known fact that Monk wanted to come to Ky all along and his brother took the blame to try and ease the backlash they knew would happen . I mean really , how could you expect ANY top level recruits to come to Arkansas with the coach you have . Homegrown or otherwise .

I mean it's not like we aren't still getting some. We may not be where we were in the 90's but I think we're still a top 3 program in the SEC (of course that isn't saying much right now)

2013
5* Bobby Portis
4* Moses Kingsley

2014
4* Anton Beard

2015
4* Jimmy Whitt

2016
4* Jaylen Barford
4* Daryl Macon
4* Arlando Cook

2017
4* Daniel Gafford
4* Khalil Garland

2018

How many times in the past decade has Arkansas finished in the top 3 in the SEC? I can only think of one time, perhaps there are more though.

I'm honestly a little surprised he has recruited that well , makes his results look that much worse . I wish Arkansas would get their program back to what it once was . I've always considered Arkansas , Florida , and Kentucky as the SEC's best basketball programs . But man , you guys have slipped back in the pack . Do you guys think Anderson is the man that can turn it around ?

There's no excuse for it, so why try to excuse it? Players have to go where they feel is best for their career. Monk may have worked out in your facilities but, if memory serves, you had his brother Marcus starring for your football and basketball teams a few years back. So, it's natural that he would have access to the facilities, and the guy who earned that right was Marcus, and Arkansas got their money's worth from him. Further, I believe that Malik saw the pressure placed on his brother Marcus and also that Marcus himself thought it was a good idea for Malik to consider other options, especially when it became clear he'd be a one and done. Arkansas hasn't ever had a one and done player. The pressure from Arkansas fans was mounting and when it seemed Malik might consider another option, the fangs came out and the decision became pretty simple for him.

I'll go ahead and do my own homework. Below is where Arkansas finished in SEC standings over the past decade.

2006 - 4
2007 - 9
2008 - 5
2009 - 12
2010 - 7
2011 - 9
2012 - 9
2013 - 7
2014 - 5
2015 - 2
2016 - 9

I think calling yourself a top-3 SEC program is a reach.
Back in the mid-90s Arkansas was definitely top 3 in the SEC. Today, I would rank them...

Kentucky
Florida
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt
Tennessee
Georgia
South Carolina
Arkansas
LSU
Alabama
Mississippi
Miss St
Auburn
Missouri

I would actually put LSU above Arkansas. They have been to a Final Four more recently and it seems like they make the NCAA tournament more often, but I could be wrong about that.

The coaching carousel will continue at UA if they don't start putting butts in the seats at BWA. 5000 people in an 18,000 area? Jeff Long will make a change (again). Anderson is still coaching Nolan's platooning style full court press defense that is not working. Another LONG season for the Hogs. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if they become a bottom-feeder in the conference.

I'd give Arkansas the edge just because Johnny Jones could coach the Dream team into the NIT.

I can't imagine why they care. Until they ditch Mike Anderson their choices are:

a) be sucky with bad players
b) be sucky with good players

The current top 6 isn't even arguable and it does not include Arkansas. I don't hate Arky. In fact, I wish they and a couple other programs would figure this damn thing out and help the SEC.

Rollin' wit Nolan Jr still thinks that archaic, frantic, out of control 40 min of hell style will work. Most 5* guards now are 6'2-6'4 with handles and speed that can easily break that style of press with their speed and passing ability.

It was innovative in the early 90's and worked (Pitino needs credit for implementing it successfully as well), but most high level teams with stud guards and wings have very little problem beating the press and scoring on the back end with lobs and layups.

I live in AR and listen to the butt-hurt fans on the radio wondering why the hawgs aren't yearly contenders.. Anderson's seat is starting to becoming a little warm. IMO. He's terrible. An *** of a person and a shell of a coach.

Top 3 SEC program my rear.. Hey keep holding on to that mid-90's success. As long as CMA is there, you'll get getting what you have now. Mediocracy..

Idc about arkansas, but i will say them being good makes thd SEC a lot better. Kentucky/Arkansas is a brand matchup and when good, their fanbase has real potential. The beat down when they came to Rupp in 2015 was fun. Red/blue packed in the SEC tournament with fans who really care is fun. Not like Florida where the fanbase is a total joke.

Josh Meyers a 5 star lineman is committed to ohio st his brother played for us. Josh Paschal a 4 star DE had his brother play for us. He hasnt committed to us. Craig Yeast a star wide reciever for us hadhis son commit to us and was pushing fkr the wr job and when he didnt get it his boy with drew his commitment and commits to UL our hated enemy.

Uk loses out on tons of kids who have connections with UK. Bama just got 5 star Jedrick Wills who is from Lexington and attends our games. Parents are big uk fans.

Just think of the memphis fans that hate you guys from the players you have gotten from the area over the years.
Your most recent glory years was when our own John Pelphrey coached your team.

They call their style forty minutes of hell, but I refer to it as forty minutes of hacking and holding.
