After a game like Saturday, you almost have to make it the Good, the Better, and the Best.
For me, the good was Costello and special teams. I know, I know... 600 yards passing, but he also spotted LSU 17 points with some really poor decisions. He had a special night and he threw some beauties, but there are things to clean up too.
The better was our defense. I mean, talking on a podcast about what our defense needs to do to be successful is one thing. Actually executing it on the road against LSU with a literal walk on in your lineup is wild. They played with intensity, they virtually shut down what may be the most talented overall backfield in the SEC, and guys were in position to make plays all night. LSU’s monster receivers just made some great catches at times, but it wasn’t because we weren’t in position. I also noticed several times that when we were tackling guys, our guys looked like they wanted to make it hurt. Just a fantastic performance
And the best I have to give to our WRs. I mean, this group has looked like they might not suit up for a sun belt team at times, but they came out swinging and never let up. Mitchell, Williams, and Shavers are looking like a lethal trio, and if Payton, Heath, and Gardner can bring something to the table.... look out. Outstanding game by Kylin too
