Two more episodes this week. Including a 45-minute interview with our new beat writer. Lots of good nuggets in that one including a prediction that the defense will be much more aggressive under Gillespie and a suggestion to pick up Imiee Cooksey if you're in a deep college football dynasty league.

Wasn’t impressed by much of it. I can do without a segment on what happens if TU goes undefeated or recapping the mason fine stuff. It sucked B.

Beat writer I was not impressed with.

You’re just mad they didn’t read one of your tweets on air.

I also recommend taking a listen to Jeremy Poplin's pod-series with the TU coaches and players. They're all about 15 minutes long. The interview with Gillespie was really good.

Never heard of this podcast until now. They need to update their web page, as the only platform where I could find it was Stitcher. Only one ‘episode’ - Monty’s radio call in show from 8/26. I’d love to hear these phantom interviews, but they aren’t there. Thanks for the non promotion and hapless execution of this, TU.

They’re all on Apple podcasts (and probably every other podcast network) as This Podcast Is Golden. I found them right away...

Also, I’d recommend NOT picking up Imee Cooksey. The dude isn’t even on the two deep.

I’m about 98% sure that this is a completely private effort started by a few recent grads on their own initiative and dime, and in no way connected to or funded by TU itself.

So how about instead of being super critical, we all be thankful and supportive instead?

thanks! Again, it’s great to publish these podcasts since the university does not promote this other than the web page I listed previously.

And Poplin gets more access to both coaches and players because he is 1) legit sports-radio host in Tulsa w/ actual credentials and 2) Sideline reporter for TU football games (as recommended by Bruce to Learfield).

I'm all for more people covering TU whether it be traditional media (radio, TV, newspaper) or new media such as podcasts and are message board. I find the Golden Hurricast a little corny in presentation. It's good that there are people out there who feel there is a need for TU to have more coverage that gets out there for fans. For a good example of something like this, the Pistols Firing blog is a great fan-run website by guys looking to be legit sports reporters. I believe Kyle Porter who started it is still somewhat involved but he parlayed some of his writing into a full-time online media producer for CBS golf. A more professional presentation of said podcast could lead to credentials to covering TU sports and since the TW does a crappy-*** half-hearted job of giving the hometown schools the coverage it should get, I'm all for others trying to fill the void...but do it right. I'm sure if they're reading this, we could all offer some genuine advice on how to improve. For one, get real mics and somewhat soundproof where you are doing it. The sound quality to me wasn't great and for someone who has trouble filtering out ambient noise, it was hard for me to listen to.

Thanks for the info on Poplin’s podcasts. For those of us who don’t live in Tulsa, we don’t necessarily know who is doing these types of podcasts so it’s great that you are sharing this info on here.

The Poplin interview w/ Zaven Collins was really interesting. If he doesn't have a long career in the NFL, he will probably have a great career in coaching if he wants it. Really bright guy with a shining but laid back personality.
