thanks! Again, it’s great to publish these podcasts since the university does not promote this other than the web page I listed previously.
And Poplin gets more access to both coaches and players because he is 1) legit sports-radio host in Tulsa w/ actual credentials and 2) Sideline reporter for TU football games (as recommended by Bruce to Learfield).
I'm all for more people covering TU whether it be traditional media (radio, TV, newspaper) or new media such as podcasts and are message board. I find the Golden Hurricast a little corny in presentation. It's good that there are people out there who feel there is a need for TU to have more coverage that gets out there for fans. For a good example of something like this, the Pistols Firing blog is a great fan-run website by guys looking to be legit sports reporters. I believe Kyle Porter who started it is still somewhat involved but he parlayed some of his writing into a full-time online media producer for CBS golf. A more professional presentation of said podcast could lead to credentials to covering TU sports and since the TW does a crappy-*** half-hearted job of giving the hometown schools the coverage it should get, I'm all for others trying to fill the void...but do it right. I'm sure if they're reading this, we could all offer some genuine advice on how to improve. For one, get real mics and somewhat soundproof where you are doing it. The sound quality to me wasn't great and for someone who has trouble filtering out ambient noise, it was hard for me to listen to.
