The goal should be the NIT

I think we can see already that this years team just isnt going to make it to the dance.

I still would love for this program to play in the post-season though and get some extra time together. NIT should be the goal and look forward to next year.

What!? Way too early to concede. Let's see how the season unfolds before we give up on our team.

Miller, Geo, Harper, Hyatt, Cliff as starters.
PM and Jones off the bench.
Geo the PG when Miller needs a blow
and plays the whole game :)
NCAA team…:)

OP, serious question: how long have been watching Pike’s teams?

This team IS very good. They’re not gelling yet because it’s really early in the season.

Put another way: I’d rather them lose now, by 3, and LEARN from it than wait until B1G play to learn lessons the WRONG way.

Missing two elite defenders from last years team and no back up center makes being very good, a very optimistic assessment.

The goal will eventually become trying to make the NIT later as the season goes but it should absolutely not be the goal.

Nonsense. The goal is to make the NCAA tournament. Pike said it’s his best team (although I don’t agree with it). We have 3 returning starters that include veteran guards and one is a 5th year senior. They have tasted and won in the post season. Anything less than an NCAA bid is a disappointment. It’s up to Pike to fix this team.

According to the OP, Oregon St should of just folded the.season and aimed for the NIT after they started 2-3, losing Game 3 @ Washington St, finished 14-13, NET 83, Game 4 vs Wyoming finished 14-11, NET 163 Q4 loss, and Game 5 vs Portland, finished 3-15, NET 321 Q4 loss, last year. They ended up going to the Elite 8 last year vs Houston as a 12.

If we make the NIT this year, then lose Ron and Geo, can you imagine how bad the next year will be? Need the NCAA to give Pike a shred of recruiting cred to work with. NCAA or bust.
