I watched it. I have loved the books I've read so far, and I thought they did a really great job of translating it to the screen. SyFy has really rebounded in the last year or two since not really having any good shows since Battlestar Galactica. I like their show Dark Matter, and with The Expanse and the miniseries Childhood's End, they have a lot of good, scripted science fiction on again.

It's about an hour long.
Short answer (from someone who hasn't read the books): Earth & the Moon are under control of the UN. There is a long term colony on Mars, which has their own governance and military. There's yet another group who work/live in spaceships and space stations near the outer boundaries of the solar system ("belters") who work by mining the asteroid belt, with ice being basically the most highly sought commodity, as water and oxygen (which can be stripped from ice) are in huge demand on Mars.
The "belters" are not much better off, nor thought of as much better than chattel slaves (think the caste system in India - the belters are the lower caste). They've developed mutations due to always being in lower than normal gravity and on Earth they can barely survive as their muscles (including their muscles controlling their breathing) are not developed enough to deal with 1G.
Between these 3 groups there is significant tension with war being a potential outcome due to competing interest between the 3.

Thanks. I found it on the Syfy app and watched the opening episode. DVR'd # 2 and watched some of it last night. So far, I really like it. Good job of casting the characters from the books....except for Amos, who I pictured as a really big strong dude while reading the books. He looks like just a guy on the show. Holden also looks about a decade younger than the Holden in my head.
They do a great job with the special effects and cinematography.
Watched episode 3 and 4 last night. So far, they have done a very good job overall. I was excited to see Tyrese (from the TWD) as Fred Johnson. Only a cameo so far, but a very very important character in the books.
Havelock dies in the books. It just happens much later in the story. I have been surprised that they haven't made more of there being a lot of prejudice against Earthers on Ceres, although the guys who stabbed him sure seemed to be anti-Earther. In the books, there was a lot more made of Havelock feeling unwanted and unable to fit in within the Belter society. Miller didn't even like working with him early on. In the show, it seems like Ceres is just a big melting pot until the Belters get pissed of at Mars for destroying the Cant and begin hating Martians. Then, the attack on Havelock seems to come out of the blue.
I take it you either have not yet watched the 4th episode or missed something, because it doesn't appear that he is dead.
Anyone keeping up with this show? I am really enjoying it. The casting choices are growing on me. The things that they have done, that are different from the first book, have also been solid. Although, I do find it weird that they even bothered to cast Havelock then pretty much ignored him.
I'm still watching. It's been very good IMO. They seem to be going at a snail's pace so I wonder if people who didn't read the books like it as much as I do though.

Stumbled on this yesterday. Watched all of season 1 and am now 3 episodes into season 2.
Are there seasons after 2?
Lol. I thought that would be a given.
I was hooked by episode 2, and it just got better.
IMO, they do an excellent job of making the technology and special effects seem realistic. I have read the entire series of novels, so I already know the story, but love the show.
I agree. They make the sci fi scenes almost seemless. That and the acting is surprisingly good. I actually really like the character Amos and think that actor does a good job.
Oh and for those reading the books it nice to have a writer come out with a new book less then two years apart.
Especially for a writer who has worked so extensively with George RR Martin. He's managed to avoid being infected with Martin's torpor.
