I wouldn't call gas prices low, but they are coming down. Some stations in my area in prime, isolated, locations with inelastic demand have only dropped a little but where there is competition and at places like costco and sams club its been pretty significant.

It all feels like a little fool's gold because OPEC production is the through the roof. Also, domestic O&G companies are laying off people left and right, but that doesn't seem to matter. What has me worried is when OPEC decides to cut production again and our domestic producers are behind the 8-ball and we see $/bbl spiking.

The US cattle people are bitching, but the Admin is about to try and thread the needle with beef from argentina. Big increase in imports coming starting this week over the next several quarters. I read that its going to be beef trimmings aimed at the ground beef market. That's smart policy, IMHO. Ground beef prices impact ALL consumers but those at the bottom of the economic ladder the most. Ranchers complain a little but aren't facing a flood of low(er) cost beef for steaks etc. so they can keep that part of the market while everday joe gets a break on the staple ground beef

I have a family friend that's a rancher out of NW Arkansas that I buy all my beef from and he's sold out until end of this summer. He's also charging 2-3x what he used to charge ~5 years ago. Ends up being around $7/lb when I buy a quarter/half steer from him and he ships it to SC, but he's selling everything he can because he expects it to turn down soon.

AI told me that the deal was 80,000 tons, in 20,000ton quarterly tranches starting .. today.

administration is between rock and hard place on beef issue. Need to get prices down now without hurting US ranchers in the future. But, election is in 8 months :)

I was talking to the owner of Skyline Chili not long ago and he said the price of beef has cut the value of the business by 1/3. That was a few months ago, so hopefully it’s gotten better.

Like the idea of bringing in the trimmings instead of the high end stuff.

It's obviously to the advantage of large beef producers to have higher prices. I'm not going to feel too sorry for them when they obviously had a hand in the supply issues. It will all work out.

Harder and harder for democrats to argue their policies aren’t inflationary.

Is it the illegals? The green energy policies? Waste fraud and abuse?

What is the explanation for this data? It’s from Bloomberg and AI says the data is correct.

Any explanation lefties?

Just because they say the are not better off than a year ago doesn’t mean they are going to vote for Bidenomics. Ain’t happening. It was a total disaster. Rasmussen poll is what it is. Doesn’t really matter.

Mark my words, Dems will have a tuff time winning mid terms despite any polls you may see right now.

They don’t have a message and they don’t have leadership. If that changes I’ll reevaluate my stance.

pollsters have proven that their methods don't provide accurate results...been that way for years.

How do you think Mamdani 10-% tax raise will affect democrats calls for affordability?

Will the public see democrats bashing affordability while raising taxes 10%?

Will the average American recognize the hypocrisy or do you think the wool will be pulled over their eyes?

first of all, I DO think that a lot of Americans are that dumb...look at recent elections just as an example.

I think the wool has already been pulled over a lot of people's eyes. Example Mamdani in New York, Bernie for years, AOC as a potential presidential candidate....

Mamdani is playing games with his property tax proposals. He wants Hochul to be the bad guy on taxes and is throwing out this tax increase as leverage, IMO. He needs money for all his giveaways, and right now he's in a negative position. He either has to back off his promises or get some cash. In the end he'll do a little of what he promised, claim victory and blame everybody else for the inability to accomplish all he promised.

He is giving republicans all the ammunition they need to win mid terms that is for sure.


I don’t think the average American is that stupid. We will see I suppose.
