Lol , Proctor can not play the 1-3. It’s either pg or combo but he’s not playing the sf spot .
Duke does not need to go to the portal should anyone of the star freshman return .

Why not? Many teams use a 3 guard lineup. NC State starts a 6 ft 1 , 6 ft 3 and a 6 ft 4 player. Worked pretty well in blowing out Duke. Against UNC Leaky Black would have a 4 inch height advantage but I have never seen him trying to post up a player. Duke needs passers and ball handlers. Bring Mitchell or better yet Ryan off the bench. You might not get as many offensive rebounds but you should have less turnovers. I also like the idea of moving Flip off the perimeter and underneath.

If we get back Roach, Mitchell and Proctor I'd be pleased as punch. Even 2 of those 3. One of those 3 with Blakes, Schutt Young and Reeves would be good. But if we lose all 3 I'm gonna be pissed off, esp. if we have a lackluster season. I don't think I can take losing another 5 guys to the NBA, esp since these guys aren't that good. .

I am all for getting players back as long as the team chemistry is good. I believe Mgbako, Stewart , Foster and maybe McCain will have stronger freshman seasons than all of the current freshman except for Flip. I have more concern for how returning players would accept less PT than how those freshman would handle earning their PT. The trio of Mgbako, McCain and TJ have the potential to give Duke its best outside shooting team in years.

If we got enough guys back some guys might decommit, but I'd be more than okay with that tradeoff. I doubt any of the freshman start over sophomore Mitchell and Proctor. History suggests we will lose at least one of Proctor/Roach. Any word on Roach? Is he out for Miami?

Once again. Proctor is not playing sf . He can’t guard a sf , Roach can’t , Blakes can’t . NC ST three guard line up works because they are athletic but barely worked against Miami . Worked against Duke because they caused turn overs . If that’s the line up then why recruit forwards .

Lively's best game. Good matchup for him given lack of size from Miami, but great to see improvement.

This zone SCheyer pulled out in the second half might be the way to keep Lively in the game. He is really active from the middle. Of course, part of it is whether refs are going to call him every time he moves his arms.

I'm happy for Lively he seems like a great kid. He has been working hard with Amile on his low post game. You could see a lot of people giving up on Lively after the break but he kept working. Still a lot of upside there. Now we are starting to see it. Would like to see him bring it on the road as well.

Let's have Lively play a few more good games before we start gushing over him. I said in an earlier post- today is exactly what we need, but he's still not nearly where he needs to be. Hopefully the big fella has a good week next week to build.

He played well against Pitt too. But I agree he needs to bring it every game and cut down on the fouls.
